I like these dials, but really not sure about the bezel. 🤔

These "new" watches aren't actually new. Same with the 60th and NTTD. They're just variations assembled to cash in on a romantic link to a popular franchise or harken back to the "the old days." The watches starred in the movies. Similarly, the Replica Broad Arrow from the late 90s was a variation on the bog standard Speedmaster of that era. The standard blue, black, green, silver, and white SMPs are still being made, still available, still sold. Yes, the Bond bracelet is still available and will still be offered with the next generation SMP. Will the next one have an aluminum insert and a standard dial?. Maybe. It'll still be a SMP and it will come on a Bond bracelet.

I think we need some specific definitions. New should not be synonomous with "next generation..." and it seems to be.

I like these dials, but really not sure about the bezel. 🤔

It's definitely cool in practice, not sure what I think of it either. Is there a Yacht-Master that is similar to this or is that my imagination?

The Nekton was the first edition for Omega using this bezel, but I think you're referring to the yachtmaster rhodium 40 that looks similar?

After noodling for a bit, it's a decent release. I like the look of it quite a bit (it might just be the most attractive current SMP300 IMO) , but I understand the disappointment. I said earlier that Omega's hype strategy with this piece with another soft debut through Craig would lead to disappointment if it was just a black version of the Bond 60th. Too much time for folks to speculate and imagine, just to get more of the same.

And then of course it being priced above the standards SMP300s. However, another way to look at that is that it is priced below the Bond 60th Anniversary while being a regular piece. If you think of this as an alternative to that, then it becomes more compelling. And compared to other no date divers, like the no-date Sub, it's compelling there as well. I think it'll be successful and views will soften. Hopefully Omega learns from this experience and is more careful in the future when hyping up a piece. If this release had a surprise announcement on a random Thursday, I'm sure the reactions would be more positive.

Exactly!

Looking at the on wrist pics in this thread, I like the silver one less than in the renders. Definitely not for me. The black is the standout, but it isn't anything groundbreaking. I just think it's the best current gen SMP variant, and the one I would buy if I was replacing my older reference.

100%. I was planning to bit at this one but I truly was underwhelmed because what I already have in the SM line is more special - the NTTD and the 60th. In addition, I acquired the white speedy already this year and that one is way cooler than this. I think this ended up being exactly as most expected yet the Craig element hyped us more than we bargained for.

I was almost going to get an FOIS instead but I'm holding off for 2025 which should be a big year. The two I'm most interested in are the new Snoopy and Bronze Gold/Burgundy SMP300.

Also I heard the Speedmaster Flight would get a retail version next month....

The bezel as you say is reminiscent of that on the Yactmaster but Omega themselves have form for this design trope. The America’s Cup and more impressively non America’s cup Seamaster used a white gold bezel in this bas relief design. Rather more successfully to my thinking.

ps we’ve seen the brushed steel dial before too on a Railmaster. I can’t say I liked it there or here. Wow I’m on a downer with these it seems! If you watched the new Jaguar advert and thought ‘that’s for me’ then perhaps the silver dial is aimed at you.

Personally it's a hard pass on both. The milanese bracelet doesn't fit my wrist and it's nothing groundbreaking with these. I like the vintage vibe and the aluminium/brushed bezels, but it seems they're charging more for less. As good as Omega has done with the Speedmaster line this year, seems they phoned it in with the Seamasters. They are somewhat uninspiring.

To each their own, but if I was looking for something like this, would by a vintage 90s /early 00s one, get a service done by a local watchmaker, then buy a staib bracelet with better adjustment with a few thousand left over.

This for me. I don’t not like them but they are not stand out enough for me to consider a purchase at this time. I do like a Milanese and have the NTTD already. These don’t offer enough of something different as yet. Black definitely my favourite though. I appreciate its straight-forward clarity of design - no other colours and no date - but not enough to want it just yet.

I take it back about the design team restraining themselves from blinging it up... It might be the lighting in the AD, but those cases (and the bracelets!) look particuarly shiny. Pretty far from a toolwatch
