Pictures seem to confirm no date. (See page1 of this thread) Unless you know otherwise. Ali bezel is a hunch as its pretty much a black version of the blue 60th with a standard bezel

Hi all, I had a small conversation with a watchmaker who's is working for a renowed watch retailer in Zurich, the town where I live and he told me that there's a bad time for the whole swiss watch industry at the moment and his forecast (predictions) for the next year is not a good one, except Rolex will do even better than they're doing so far but for all others companies who are in the luxury segment such as Omega, Breitling, Zenith, IWC Tag Heuer are really struggling to "survive" in his thoughts they're not selling well because of the insane price increases in which they are moving towards, instead of offering reasonable prices for normal red-blooded people. So let's see if he's right or wrong only time will tell. Bye👋

When the initial news dropped, this exact account lifted the renders I made in this thread without attribution to make his post. That's my render there again. So I would say he's completely full of shit, he has no original content. 😜

Apologies @Jakeys didn’t mean to cause any issues.

I do remember seeing a few images online & I believe one did @ you.

Odd as the account does seem to indicate he’s in the know if you look at some of the comments

Haha no need to apologise! Yeah someone did reach out to me on OF messages and I said go for it, just that particular guy didn't. It was my fault for not watermarking the first ones, I didn't think they'd blow up quite as much as they did, that's all.

I suspect he isn't in the know, it's the kind of social media account that gets engagement by reposting information provided by others online. In this post's case, it contains no information that isn't already known. It's my old render, Omega have already confirmed it's going to be released, and "oxalic anodized aluminum bezel" is lifted from the 60th anniversary Bond product page. But it was already known from the photos that it has a matte aluminium bezel.

I had it confirmed this weekend by an inside source.

5 seconds of research tells me oxalic anodized aluminum means the aluminum bezel has a scratch proof coating. Is that true? And does anyone know how/if it fades over time compared to normal aluminum bezels?

I wouldn't say scratch proof, more like scratch resistant. I don't think you'll get a concrete answer on that, just they are marketed as being some degree more resilient than the aluminium bezels of old. As far as fade, probably the watches using them (I'm only aware of the 60th Bond) are too new to make any determination on that. Faded modern bezels aren't that common anyway. It seems to take decades in normal wear conditions, if it happens at all. My 1998 2541.80 has its original bezel to my knowledge and looks unfaded.

Confirmed what exactly?
That this is the model and it will drop soon as a Bond watch.

That’s disappointing to me. Assuming that it’ll have some Bond related details.

Odd even though no Bond & no Bond film.

Or is this Omegas ‘Goldfinger Anniversary Ed’

So basically a special edition release and not a new seamaster upgrade?

Sigh… so probably just like the 60th, which means a distorted bubble crystal, a 42MM case size, too thick, and no new bracelet.

Why do I even hold my breath.

I did hear the NTTD would be discontinued this November when the new bond announcement is made, from an inside source. I assumed that meant they’d pick a new actor or say the movie title in November. I am still unsure of this will be the new bond watch for that movie, if it’s replacing the NTTD. I was told shipment of the NTTD to stores stopped back in February with anticipation of an announcement but it was a false alarm. Anyone hear something similar?

Well it will be nicer as no 60th marker (& hoping no lumed bezel). If no bond animation on the back and either a solid caseback or sapphire then it would be thinner than the 60th.

It would be quite weird for Omega to commemorate Goldfinger, given it has the strongest Rolex link of any Bond movie. Not sure what to make of this one! I guess we'll find out soon.

That’s my thoughts as well. But believe they’ve already produced an OHMSS anniversary edition & that was Rolex also (& some chronograph if I remember correctly). So I wouldn’t put it past them.

Ideally I’d like a new regular production maybe 40mm & colour options like the current gens. But alas I think I may just be wishful thinking.

Maybe but since I heard they’re stopping the NTTD in November , I think it’s to do with a new bond /film.

I’d agree with you on wishlist though, 40mm and color options like the current gens would be an automatic buy for me.
