When I was deciding between getting my Speedmaster in either Sapphire or Hesalite the forum helped me decide with tales of scratches coming out with Polywatch. I've had mine for a little under a year and yesterday got my first real "oh shucks" scratch on it. I was moving my son into his apartment and we were carrying a long heavy box (unassembled bed) when my arm got pinned against the wall going around a tight corner. It was a pretty deep scratch (one you can feel with your nail) right at 12 o'clock. I thought "well this one isn't coming out". I got home and got out the Polywatch. 5 mins and a cotton ball and I was back in business. Thanks to everyone who shared their tale before, and this is mine. Before After
Had a similar positive experience with a Rolex GMT 1675 recently. Took it out for a walk and banged into someone’s hand (and what felt like a watch with a metal bracelet) on the street. I was left with two scratches blurring the crystal as a memento. Polywatch took them right out.
Just buffed out a couple of scratches this morning on my speedy. Didn't get them to show in a photo but the finished product looks great. I hadn't used polywatch to this point. Happy with the result. Strange observational side note: the poly crystal on my Hamilton Field is proving to be very reluctant to scratch at all. I've worked on cars, planes, and homes with it and there's still no scratch! Just thought it was interesting.
Don't know what you paid but it's https://www.watchgecko.com/poly-watch-plastic-repair from these people.
Yes, you pay ten bucks for FIVE GRAMS. A Novus kit costs $12. Note the sizes you get. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091IPVEW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I agree it works just fine. But not better than this and it's laughable how little you get.
Yes I do. As for me, I blame Covid-19 lockdown about 3 months ago. Stuck at home, I had ordered the Polywatch and some other things. I'm sure I could find something similar to your Novus if I look around.
You are no doubt correct. Any of the products for the restoration of headlights, for example, would likely do a decent job, though I might be concerned that you cannot get the same finish as with the Novus fine polish or the Polywatch. As I said, the Polywatch is indeed a decent product but I personally do not believe it is worth overpaying for.
By the way, I've used these products for years on the Speedmaster I no longer own and they will do no damage to the bezel. But then again, I wash my modern Omegas under the tap with Dawn and a nylon scrub brush. (Never has any water gotten inside the case.)
