Good morning all. @Archer some help needed. I have this watch,it was working perfectly but now when I wind it up it takes three windings than it makes a sound like it goes back.I wind it again and makes the same thing and the watch runs. You think it has the mainspring broken? Thanks in advance
This could also have been sent as a PM... If you wind the watch up and don't feel any resistance at the point where the watch is wound up, I would imagine it would be a mainspring issue. The click is a tell tale sign there is a split or break somewhere in it. While the watch will run it will not have the full power reserve afforded by a new/unbroken mainspring and will be relying on the limited tension the broken one has.
If a mainspring breaks somewhere close to the inner coils, most often, the watch will not run when you try to wind it. But if it happens that the mainspring breaks toward the outer end, they will do as you say yours does. Run an hour or so, then quit. Sure sounds like a broken mainspring to me.
I should change the title name on Omega Forum members to the rescue Thanks everyone. I will bring it to my watchmaker but he is a bit away, thats why I asked to confirm that the mainspring is broken.
It doesn't change what you need to do with it. Don't wind it or wear it until your watchmaker can look at it. (Or find another watchmaker if he'll be away too long.)
Unless I happen to be mistaken, I believe you will find that the cost to service that watch will far outweigh its monetary value. So unless it has sentimental value...
I will service this one for 15 to 20 euro. That is how much my watchmaker will take for a not well known watch like this.
