Obviously the bezel is some kind of previous owner "kustomation" but this is the same dial.
Serial numbers are very very close. Is this a case of an original UG production quirk or from the same batch of franken fakes?

I was a bit too fast in my conclusion ! (Too much wine probably !)
A pre-Polerouter model? As they are both in 138SS

    Hi Nikolaj,

    I'm afraid you've just acquired a redial.

    I'm sorry.

Hands are off, including the too-long seconds hand, I'm afraid :(
Funny you found this on DBA, I never find anything of interest there!

I was rediscovering @Severin informative post and noticed that I had a 7th logo in my collection that wasn't described previously.

This would be the big "U" shield/logo at 12. The two examples I have, appear to be linked to the rare cal. 215-7 which I believe can be dated to the late 50s. Interestingly, they do not fall in the cal. 215/215x chart made by Severin as they only have "Automatic" and no "Microtor" written on the dial similar to the 138/139 bumpers, 218/218x and 69 described above. I know that Severin didn't look into the Polerouter Jet's but I added mine as it shares the same dial as the Polerouter.

Both watches are presently at my watchmaker but will investigate this further when they return. Inspired by Severin's magnificently detailed and meticulous work I hope that we can keep this thread alive and continue to add for years to come and increase the information available to us all.

Fascinating, thanks for sharing. What are the case reference numbers?

The nerd in me would love to catalogue all of the different Polerouter variations by case reference number but sadly I just don't have the time.

Both watches don't have a serial or case reference number and only have "Stainless Steel" written on the outside case back. The inside case back doesn't have a ref. or serial number either.

MAte this is sick. I wish I had this when I first started out buying my first Polerouter Super. It's too bad the guy who does polerouter.de is not around - i am wondering if whatever you have done with your research could be added onto the polerouter.de server. That will be doing his work and your work A LOT of justice. In fact, i would argue that UG should be involved in this collation of such important research in order to ensure the legacy of polerouters!

I am really happy that I have found this forum. I have a question regarding the following polerouter. Is this a fake?, due to I wasn't able to find any information on the "Polerouter Geneve" on the same line written. Second, I am missing the Swiss, T Swiss T oder any similar indicator. I would be happy to receive some information on it. Last but not least the Cal. 69 seems to look different (especially with the "adjusted to five 5 positions temerature") that the other I was able to compare. Thank you and best regards, Ben

    My two Polarouters:
    a) steel 20217-5, serial 168xxx; and
    b) gold plated 20214-2, serial 164xxx.

Might be worth a mention to Severin, you can see that both have "wide" chapter markers, yet they still look different... The gold chapter markers are wider, but also the grain in between the markers is circular on the gold model, but the grain radiates from the centre on the steel one. Apologies to complicate matters further :D

edit: took a closer dial photo

I think it has been put together.
I would guess that the dial is from a late thinner "straight lug" case that has replaced the original "unviersal geneve polerouter date" dial.
Not sure about those hands either, particularly the seconds hand.

I agree that it has been put together.

You can just about make out the 869111 (/01?) case reference on the case back in one of the photos. It looks to me like everything is original to that watch (including the hands) except for the dial. The dial most likely came from a watch with this case type.

Thanks @Severin, amazing work and you've actually helped me work out what I bought (I'm not a UG collector, just bought this one on a whim because I liked it - although I think the dial seems to have gone brown)
