no argument there, Cristos. They don't come up often is the thing. Dealer price about a year ago was in the neighborhood of USD 10K if I recall correctly.
The way things are gong in the vintage watch biz these days it could hardly be considered surprising to see a nice example of this watch sell for what is being asked for this one. The cream rises to the top. If a questionable condition first series Autavia can sell for over 20 grand why not a gorgeous watch like this? All it takes is two people who want it badly enough. Although the price is startling. In reality, it is probably the best EP of this time period. It is my favourite and the one most often not messed with. Pity I sold one of my two for a lot less recently, but it went to a good home, so all is well.
thread resurrection for a rare sighting. A Poker Chip from Las Vegas. Who can resist the provenance? https://www.ebay.com/itm/263877058913Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
This specific example? I don't think so. This reference? Sure: https://omegaforums.net/threads/cashing-in-your-chip-g-383.7937/#post-93502 https://omegaforums.net/threads/fear-and-loathing-in-le-locle.4583/#post-53075 https://omegaforums.net/threads/el-primero-g-383.4071/#post-47016
I would say that the Las Vegas Chip has been relumed; it looks as if the new application has spilled over the edges...
I have enough serial numbers now to be able to say that all early G383s appear to lack the metal hour markers.
Both models are absolutely correct. Some years ago it was thought that the one with out the squares was not correct. But since then I have seen and 5 or 6 with out the square markers and have examined them very carefully, in my opinion they are correct original pieces.
I bought a used Seiko multi dial and had real trouble remembering which sub-dial showed seconds, and that the sweep hand (red above) was no more than a timer. To this day I’ve never worked out what the other two sub-dials were meant to show.
I believe this has been relumed. Where is the block of metal surrounding the lume spots like those in GIGI's and MMMD's photos.
