Archer has decoded two PO's.
Toad's 220150 which is D, but OP's pumpkin indeed looks like earlier production C.
That makes sense then lol

Beautiful pumpkin, OP. Congratulations. The 2500 is by far the PO I like the most, specially in 42mm.

@Archer: would you be so kind of checking what movement is in mine ? 2201.50, 86072863. With such a high S/N I'm pretty sure is a D, but just to confirm.

Thanks !

Serial number: 86072863
Article ref: 22015000
Version of movement: 2500D

The date wheel font is different between c and d isn't it? That may help assuming date wheel is original.

have fun
kfw

The date indicator can be changed, and I've had people ask me to do this at service...not reliable IMO.

I would not stress too much about the movement version, If it was going to have a problem reported it would have been either spotted or fixed years ago. If 14 years after production it is running well I think it's safe to say that it either did not have any issues or they have been fixed.

Thank you all! Gotta love this forum. I’ll source a black bezel to add some variety.

What is interesting is the card is dated 2006. Just curious how a 2006 dated PO would have a D movement? Also curious if it is correct the C movement and the D movement have a different date wheel?

I have heard people say serial numbers starting with 852XXXXX or higher are 2500D.

Here are the differences between the date wheels.

If this is correct information this is really valuable information to help with the 2500 C and D movement questions regarding the date wheel which pop up from time to time. Thanks for sharing.

Oh I see for this answer you were not referring to the PO that was posted for sale

I don’t know how true it is regarding the serial number, but that is what others say on other forums and when I was searching for a 2500D PO, I had yet to come across a C version with a serial number that high.

Remember the date wheels can be changed out like Archer said, but starting with the date wheel is a good start when looking for a 2500D, then next the serial number to try and confirm it in case somebody tried to swap a 2500D date wheel into a 2500C movement and when still in doubt looking at the movement itself for the 2500D markings which was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Does it even matter if it’s a C or D? I thought that when these were serviced any needed changes in the C were made, essentially making it a D. Given this watch is 15 yrs old, I’m hoping it’s been serviced.

Funny I got a notification to this thread as soon as I set the time on my 2500d po.
Anyway, I don't think C versions become D after servicing.
