The answer to your question is yes, if you only like certainties.

In my experience, all the watches I've bought, that came with stretchy bands (twistoflex), have been 100% original and the movements great. Something about older guys and their twistos = untouched.

PS I think the guy stole it...

I think most of us live in hope of finding that 'special' deal. I certainly do, but so far I've been totally unsuccessful.
Whilst I'm blue with envy, nonetheless big congratulations to the new owner - wear the watch in good health.

Lets all face it, if the watch was posted on here for $6k, $7k, $8k or dare i say even $10k 馃槻.... it would have probably crashed the forum with the amount of people trying to buy it.

I can't wait to see it cleaned up! Invest a little bit more and it should look like this..

Hahaha excellent! I live in Eindhoven myself, but I travel to Maastricht quite frequently. Maastricht is a nice city for watch lovers - when I have a couple of free hours, I like to browse the vintage watch shops.

I'll certainly drop by your restaurant sometime: I usually have dinner in or around Maastricht before I drive home. Actually, when I want to avoid traffic on the A2, I sometimes take the scenic shortcut through Belgium (the N78) which even takes me straight though Lanaken iirc.

I just wanna say that this thread has been enormously fun and educational for me. It's given me some great insights in how experienced collectors go about purchasing (and how each has his personal style, if you will). I'm sure his will help me in my hunt. And more importantly, I found a nice restaurant and am getting a free beer 馃榾

Thanks to everyone for jumping on my question and sharing their insights!

Inside I don't know yet. I know it is first owner, wedding gift.
Don't know what that is on the pusher...
