Hi all, may I ask a silly question to the aggrieved parties who are annoyed by frequent bumps: Do you feel some of the bumping by others has prevented you from selling a watch, or from selling it at a price which was fair? I’m not talking about offenders who bump three watches in the same day and clearly obfuscate the view with a form of « spam » — I’m talking about bumps which abide by the rules yet seem to annoy nonetheless.
Forgive me guys, I have never sold a watch & am new to the forum. Could someone please explain what "bumping" is? I am by no means an idiot but cannot work it out for the life of me. TIA
Bumping a sales post is updating or adding a comment to your own ad, making it go to the top of the recent posts list.
When someone adds a new comment to a Sales thread, it brings that thread up to the top of the “Latest” list so it is more visible. I have seen it referred to as “Bring Up My Post” or a BUMP.
The rule is 24 hours, and due to the lag between posting and getting a mod to approve, I have no problem with a seller giving themselves a quick bump shortly after the initial listing. This isn't a complaint about the moderators, but the fact is that sometimes by the time the listing is approved it falls off the first page of latest threads.
@efauser @Andy K ok, ok - mea culpa. There are as many opinions on bumps as there are members I believe. I won't comment on that anymore.
aren't you the guy that offers watches for sale, then posts you changed your mind, then re-offers it for sale again all in the same thread? perhaps everyone has their own style of selling including you. However most of the time people seem to be able to deal straight up.
Oh no I DID think they were dropping off for some IT issue!! My Bad, put me on the rack and pull my fingernails out. Sorry boys and girls won't happen again.
Gee, thought I was doing the right thing by generally going a week+ before bumping, didn't realise you couldn't bump 2 of your own posts simultaneously.
Yes thanks JimInOz...I'm sure I must have when I joined...memory is not what it was My eyes aren't bad though
