Yellow gold day date in Rain Man.

That watch gets a lot of work in Hollywood. Here it is again wearing Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross.

JLC are releasing a KingsMan special edition. I'm not sure if the films featured the watch though ...

Ok so we are watching a lot of old classics because we are film buffs.... (ok because we are too tight to pay for Netflix)
Anyway I thought this shot from Hitchcock's strangers on a train is really clear (considering it is from 1951).
Looking up online the lovely looking watch worn by the main character Guy Haines is an Endura sport chronograph? - which is apt as the story revolves around a Tennis player and a race against time becomes central to the plot. Looking in close up I wonder if the logo was actually removed from the dial for the filming to prevent any unpaid product endorsement?

That was a very common practice. If you'll notice some prop watches used in British TV series have little decorative scrollwork in place of a brand name so the dial doesn't look bare.

Master and Commander.
Whilst the Breguet Chronometer is not featured predominately in the movie, Master and Commander, (there is a scene where it appears on the map table, albeit with a damaged dial) the chronometer (s) are regularly referred to in the series of books, or which the movie was loosely based around. (Book 10 of 20. "The Far Side of the World." by Patrick Obrian.) Being a watch nut, it is wonderful reading some of the finest marine fictional books ever written and coming accross references to Capt Jack Aubrey's Breguet's, whether they are being stolen by the French, water logged, or out of sync with their partner hence leavign the ship unsure of it's longitude. Wonderful read and a wonderful reminder the importance of time, more so, its measurement was to history and the world as a whole in those times. Fascinating!

He’s wearing a watch? Let me take an even closer look at the photo.

Saw On The Rocks the other day and there's a scene where Bill Murray gifts his daughter a vintage watch. Can anyone identify the watch? Looks like a rectangular case. Apologies, I know the image isn't great....

Simon Peg in how to lose friends and alienate people.... Being a huge space and Sci-fi buff it should be Speedy-pro all the way. But in some versions of the film the watch as gifted is a Seamaster. He refers to a Speedy in the film so maybe it was a continuity error.

1960 film village of the damned based on the John Wyndhams (Triffid fame) book The Midwich Cuckoos.
When George Sanders tries to resist the Alien force a wall clock and then some form of sub seconds watch is used to convey time passing…..

Another TV appearance - Stephen Graham flashed his Daytona quite a bit in last week's episode of There's Something About Movies...

1957 12 Angry men (well worth a watch). A few watches in shot and central to the plot Henry Fonda asks if anyone can time him / if they have a watch with a second hand… 42 seconds compared to 15 seconds. Did they not know they could get a CK2915. Also based on the plot and the wall clock the final scenes are set around 7pm… but the watch worn by actor Lee J Cobb looks to be set much earlier. Not sure if anyone has the forensic eye to spot what any of these watches are brand wise. One of the cast went on to specialise in that area :0) ...BW films and stills are better than colour sometimes.
