Please Help with Early Omega Seamaster

Hello everyone, I recently picked this up at an estate sale. The case is 18k gold, the watch is also running. I have a couple of questions. From what I’ve found out so far the movement is from 1950 but the case is 1948, correct me if I’m wrong. Would this be considered a Frankenstein watch? Also the “SEAMASTER” on the dial is in block lettering and has a hyphen “SEA-MASTER”. I’ve been through many examples but have yet to find one like this. I appreciate any input. Thanks

18kt gold so that’s good. Movement is average and dial refinished. Can always have the dial redone or look for a replacement in nicer condition.

crown looks like a later replacement

if you got it at a good price. Win win

If you bought for less than scrap (whatever 18 grams of 18ct is worth these days) then you probably got a good deal

For what it’s worth it was most likely actually a Turler sold watch based on 18k and the engraving.

as noted the redial severely hurts the value of this watch taking it down to near scrap value.

tracking down the original owner via the engraving might give historical value to the piece.

serial number will give you approx age. Turler was/is in Germany.

There is not a date discrepancy between case and movement. The 2 serials don’t run in the same ranges, both are circa 1950-51, yes it’s been redialled but it’s otherwise original IMO. Pick up a cheap knackered steel 2577 and swap the dials and you’ll have something nice. Ditch the bracelet though, those chew into gold lugs.
