Hello,
I'm considering to buy this vintage Omega. However, I'm new to this field and dont have any exp. The seller claims this watch is
"Vintage 1950s O.mega Ref. 2639 Cal. 265 Men's 35mm Patina Dial Stainless Watch".
I couldnt find any watch that look the same on the internet.
Consider the rust in the bolts, in the edge of the caseback; and the patina/dirty/damage of the dial, could the watch be restore/service to better condition after I buy it?
If anyone could help, please tell me should I buy this watch? Many thanks.

I would pass on this watch. The movement has clearly seen water damage as has the case and the damaged dial speaks for itself.

Movements can be fixed up... either through refinishing or replacement. Parts are out there... just depends how much you want to spend. I'd say the movement has enough visual indications of potential issues (rusted screws, rusty stem, plating missing, corroded case) it's probably going to be a bit of a project but could be brought back and made to run well (as pretty much goes for any old omega...)

The dial... if you don't love the look as it is move on. Very rarely will dials be able to be "cleaned" or improved visually. Mild surface dirt, etc.. can be carefully removed but this is well beyond that. It's baked in at this point.

Anything over 35USD$ and I would run away from it. And I like basket cases. The best thing this would be is as a sweetener in a job lot.

One can these days get a decent 50x or 55x watch complete unserviced in the 250USD range. Double that for serviced. So unless one is into rat rust watches, this is one to pass over.

This is ref 2605, not 2639. See inside caseback for reference. There are lots of 2639 watches around on EB and Chrono24 you need to study the reference you like and become familiar with dials and cases and appropriate movement.

read this excellent overview

Thanks for the guide and warm welcome.
I still want to ask, is there any chance the caseback I posted is not belong to the watch? Since I google "omega ref. 2605-9" and the result is not like the original post.
Below is what google provided for the search. Different hands, different indices.

Case reference pertains to case- there can be different variations in dials and handsets
Looks like 2605 lugs
But yes Caseback can be swapped over the years

Different hands, different indices.

The reference number is for the type/shape of the case including the movement - dials vary a lot... don´t only judge by the "face" (as with women...😉)

edit: @SOG53 beat me by 2 minutes while I was typing...
