Hello,

as I got some warm tritium obsession recently and thinking on replacing my 3570.00 with some earlier model and came across this Speedmaster advertised as NOS from 1991 on ebay. I can not put a link to german ebay here, but you can see it if go to ebay.de and put 222506266065 to the search field.

Do you believe it is NOS? Is it actually good for Speedy to sit >25 years in a box without moving? I understand it needs a service after sleeping that long.

Thanks for any input!

I'll leave the Speedmaster related questions to those with greater knowledge, but on the subject of a watch sitting unused for 25 years I would say it depends how it was stored. If everything is clean with no sign of corrosion, including the movement, then the watch is likely to be good as new following a service.

My wife and daughter have both been running watches for the last few years that were genuine NOS from the 1970s and both work beautifully. They were effectively unused watches that just needed a service to clear away the old oil.

For €3700 I'd want to be seeing the box, the cards, the card holder, and a fresh service included...

Was that directed at me?

Having a bad day @jurisevac@ ?

You ok hun?

If you have problems with the prices of watches I sell then you don't have to buy them - scratch that, I wouldn't sell you a watch if you offered my twice the asking.

Have a great day. 👍

As usual, you make sbsoloutely no sense - I'm coming to the conclusion that this isn't a language issue, but simply down to you being an arsehole and saying rude things wrapped in nonsense.

Not the best photos, but that could be NOS. The price is a bargain, if that is genuinely new old stock.

Well it is a nice thing but since they openly state it hasn't been serviced, which instantly adds about £3-400 to the outlay, then I would say it is rather pricey, certainly not a bargain. Being early 90s, when you factor in the the service cost, is this really worth circa €1750-2000 more than a recent 3570 in similar but healthy condition? Is tritium worth that much?

Absolutely yes 😀 It's worth a lot more actually. Where and when you will find another NOS? How many worn 3570 are out there? Gazzilion. I certainly won't sell mine for that price.

Now fast forward 10-15 years from now and compare a 1991 tritium NOS vs worn 3570? 😀

Ahhh so the old impartial 'I have one therefore I am going to pretend that this one is worth millions as it justifies my purchasing decision' Of course!

Did I say mine is for sale? No. Offer me 2x what the ebay ad is asking for - I won't sell.

I know the price is cheap because I know how much they are selling between dealers and real purists.

And you are comparing it to a worn luminova 3570 ::facepalm1::

Umm no I am comparing it to a perfect 3570 and I didn't infer or suggest that yours was for sale, I mentioned purchasing which is the opposite of selling where I am from. What they sell for between dealers and real mugs is by the by. If you are buying a NOS watch to put in the safe and never wear then that is one thing but the real issue with this one is that as soon as you wear it, it will become just another early 90s Speedy i.e. not all that far removed from the current model and will lose about a third of its value. Yes it is a nice thing but to my mind it is an overpriced nice thing. Including the necessary service it adds up to around €4200/£3600/$4700. It just ain't special enough to warrant that IMO.

The trouble with NOS watches is you can't wear them unless you don't mind spoiling the very thing you just paid extra for - ie perfect condition. However if you want a NOS Speedy then you won't see many for sale so if you're happy with the price pay it. My 2 cents.

it's irrelevant if you wear it or not in the future, we are looking at a NOS unworn piece and we treat it as such. The potential and rarity are huge, whether the new owner wants to wear it that is totally up to him. A NOS unworn piece will always be collectable and command a premium compared to the same model used.

In todays market that is very good price and the only thing why I'm not buying it is because the seller doesn't take paypal and for me that rings "scam" on ebay

You might think it's overpriced but it's simply not in this market.

I doubt this one to be NOS... minty yes but not NOS. seller pulled it from EBayKleinanzigen where pictures of the caseback were included, had signs of wear between the lugs and on the back. Funny those pictures don't show up in the eBay add. Fishy.... no box and papers, no hangtag nor a sticker or blue/pink protective gue on the back.
He describes it as unworn, maybe it is ... but not NOS as in NEW OLD STOCK never been sold....

Check the NOS thread on here to compare this one with truly NOS pieces ....

I made the mistake of doing that by accident a few weeks ago...ended up in a ball, snot and tears flowing, crying for my mommy with a teddy-bear wrapped in my arms...took quite some time to recover 😁
