5. Correct...Damn... you're good ::rimshot::
The ad aired on July 1, 1941. It showed an outline of a map of the United States and in its center was a watch dial labeled "Bulova Watch Time". The image remained on screen for 20 seconds while a voice announced the time. The commercial was aired by WNBT during the Brooklyn Dodgers-Philadelphia Phillies baseball game at Ebbets Field

Wrong

Strictly speaking, the Bulova ad wasn’t the world’s first TV commercial. But it was the first legal one, having been screened on the day that the Federal Communications Commission’s first commercial licences to TV stations came into effect.

"Illegal" commercials had appeared as early as 1930, when TV licences were non-commercial. On 1 July 1939, Procter & Gamble, Socony-Vacuum (now Mobil) and General Mills were given free ads during the first televised baseball game.

We will agree to disagree.... I meant legal as I would never suggest anything illegal...😀

I knew this one was going to incite discussion, debate and disagreements... so, I am tossing the question out. As I agree with you Standy. It was my understanding that Rolex failed the tests as well. We need to write a letter/email to Ms. Buchanan.

The answer according to the book, The Watch Buff's Book of Trivia by Norma Buchanan, was as follows:

"Refusing to send NASA the chronographs it requested so it could test them for possible use by its astronauts. When Rolex phoned Rolex USA to ask for 50 watches, the Rolex employee who took the call replied dismissively that the company could not send them because it did not have enough watches available. Rolex later expressed regret at the cavalier way in which NASA's request had been handled."

Book was published in 2005 and Ms. Buchanan is/was a freelance journalist and contributing editor at WatchTime. She has specialized in writing about watches and the watch industry for 15 years. ( written on back cover of the book)
