Pierce Chronograph

Hi guys
I came across this Pierce Chronograph at the weekend. I believe it's the early cal. 130 model. I'd heard about them, but hadn't really done any extensive research about them. I know it's in rough state, the dials not perfect, but it certainly has an appeal. The time functions are working OK, but the chronograph isn't functioning(no major surprise apparently with these models).

I've been doing som reading up about them, but alot of the discussions and links are from 2010/2014/2015 and whilst relevant might now be a bit outdated.

I understand there's some major issues around parts. I would just like to ask if anyone out there has some up to date experience relating to these watches. From what I read there's a couple of watch repairers in the US (Abell Watchmakers and The Watch Tech) that have previously done repairs on them. I'm based in Europe, anyone with any experience on this side of the pond?

Are they still considered a money pit and am I better off selling it on for spares/repairs..

Any input gratefully received.
Regards
Chris

Answering my own question, I see that Mitka in the UK has done a repair on three of these, so I'll get in touch and see what he can do.

Pierce chronos are quirky but cool 😎 Lots of information on the interwebs on their movement problems and how to fix them. Once you find a watchmaker who has experience with these, you'll no doubt want to collect a few more.😁

....and I managed to get a picture of the movement. The cam wheel is broken.

Unless this watch has sentimental value to you, I wouldn't invest in a repair. Inexpensive Pierce chronographs are fairly easy to find. So if you want to add one to your collection, I would start with one that is in better condition cosmetically.

Hi Dan, many thanks for the feedback, I am certainly leaning in that direction. The watch has no sentimental value for me, pure curiosity and as Vitezi says the quirkiness of it.

Opening a year old thread just indicates the enthusiasm for Pierce watches here.

Such a shame, they made their own movements.
