Now that, sir, is impressive! Best wristshot I've seen in a while. Just what it was built for
I thought it was the perfect watch for the climb 😀

Vacationing in Berlin. GMT hand set to Oklahoma time.

my explorer also has those letters on the dial, the wide "O", mine is from 1993 and I think they were called "porcelain dial" there are not many with the fat "O" in the word "Explorer"

Ahhh very interesting, so this is news to me. I did wonder - the Rolex crown is a little different in shape but I thought this was due to it being one of the first models of the 16570. Mine is a 1990 model and I believe Rolex changed from the 16550 to the 16570 in 1989. I've seen pictures of dials for polar 16550s and this dial looks almost identical to those. Any chance they used the same dials for the fist few years of production for the 16570?

It may be that it was used from the other series, but in Rolex everything is random, there are explorer from 1992 who do not wear this same dial and mine is from 1993 and it does. the truth is The Rolex Crown and the fat "O" is not very common

Mine is in 1988 R serial between the crossover from 16550 and I believe is the first batch of 16570.

Same Explorer of Mont Blanc, different mountains. Odles in Dolomites, Italy. In my opinion the best mountains in the world.
Beautiful landscapes, rocks for climbing, remains of fortifications and tunnels of WW1, excellent food and peace 😀
