I think the husband used pickleball as an excuse to get away and go play for the summer ::psy::

He what?? 😲 🤬

Yeah, that one seemed a little extreme. Anyway in other news, it's +14 C here today, so just spent 2 hours on the courts - my coach has a court in his back yard so had a clinic and then played some doubles at the end. Wife and I were down serving a 3-5, and won the set 7-5. Yesssss!

I haven’t posted in this thread, and yet these have appeared on my social media feed…

My best friend and I cycle and play the occasional tennis or pool (billiards?). We haven’t tried pickleball (yet), but he’s mentioned it a few times. Says his mother loves it (she’s mid 70’s…?) and it seems to be very popular. My wife and I moved to Michigan (USA) last year to a condo community that has 2 tennis courts for the community to use. I’ve not yet seen anyone play anything other than tennis so far, but as it’s only about 500m from our place, it seems noise might be a concern if anyone tried pickleball.

It sounds like pickleball has become a great summer escape for your husband! It's awesome that he's found a fun and active way to spend his time. Pickleball is such a fantastic sport for staying active and enjoying some time outdoors.
If you're interested in giving pickleball a try yourself, you might find this beginner's guide to joining pickleball leagues helpful: https://anypickleball.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-joining-pickleball-leagues-near-you. It could be a fun way for both of you to enjoy the game together!
It's great to have hobbies and activities that we enjoy, especially ones that keep us active and healthy. Maybe you could join your husband for a game or two and see if pickleball is something you might enjoy as well.

I have enough challenges staying out of the orthopedists office. My wife and I will not risk sailing season for a game keeping Orthopods in Bentleys. We’ve seen too many neighbors in casts.

“Pickleball injuries may cost Americans $377 million in health care costs this year, accounting for 5%-10% of total unexpected medical costs”

I have had two contractors cancel / defer on me this month due to injuries sustained on the PB Court. I will stick to collecting watches.

Eeuww! Can't unsee that now...
In other news, my tennis club committee has now rejected the idea of padel (European short-court with tennis balls, see above passim) because of noise objections from local residents. It was the cost, really, so it goes. But they have voted to allow pickleball (which is cheap). Now that will teach those residents not to play with forces they don't comprehend...

Y'all keep your fingers crossed. A "low noise" material compound for the ball is under development. Time will tell if it pans out.

I’d rather hear the sound of pickleball than the loud grunts and moans of tennis players.

Tennis courts were packed when we played yesterday - no grunts or moans...

Yeah, senior citizens can't hit the ball hard enough to cause a grunt. Rally's last longer too.

Absolutely false.

However, I am not saying that P-ball does not deserve ridicule...

Just saw this at my gym.

Hey, I know…don’t play pickleball.

I’m a freaking genius.

Yikes - the doomsday countdown clock worries me Dr Petit and y'all might be getting a tad too serious about this?
