Found, handed in, returned to me not claimed after 5 years, that was 30 years ago.
again, found in the back of a drawer recently.

how do I do that?

When you look at the dust cover, is there a hinge at 6 o’clock? There should be a tiny groove around the dust cover’s edge somewhere on the opposite side. If so, use your thumb fingernail to pry it open. If you can’t do that, you may use a caseknife (a dull edge thin knife). If you are unsure, bring it to a watchmaker. They would normally not charge you just to open it for inspection.

Is the number under the balance that looks like 8.5L actually 38.5L? It is a common but good quality 15 jewel movement from the forties, no military connection. It is in need of a full service, the brass case has some serious oxidation, but this watch can be saved and made running again with a proper service by a watchmaker easily. Do it.
