Lot 152 (Paul Newman 6241) had sold for 197,000CHF in 2013 and sold for 220,000CHF today again.... isn't that a bit disappointing??
Or a sign that the Paul Newman frenzy is cooling off??

Further element to support such a trend: Lot 154 with hammer of 145,000 today vs. 185,000 in 2013.
Relatively weak showing for lot 175/176 Speedmasters
Lot 175 ultraman sold at 26,000 against an estimate of 20-40,000
Lot 176 2915-2, passed at 30,000 against an estimate of 40-80
Very ugly Ultraman, if anything seems a bit surprising for someone to pay 32k chf all in for that! Yikes that 2915-2 is surprising! Again it has crappy lume, but is there anything else wrong with it besides a replacement bezel?
I noticed that in general, a lot of the steel Daytonas hammered within the estimate range (maybe slightly above), and a lot of watches in general hammered at a reasonable price (considering this is a Phillips auction). I think there is so much knowledge out there, and folks are rightfully demanding the best condition and reasonable provenance info for the pieces that are fetching the highest prices. I assume this is a good thing for this little hobby of ours...
The Vacheron Constantin minute repeater, retrograde date tonneau watch from 1940 (Lot 109), one of the most important wristwatches of the 20th century went for CHF 740,000, a bargain for what it represents. Lucky buyer. Outside of the Daniels Grand Complication this was the top lot of the auction, imho.
