Ello friends,

This buckle came with my 1966 Connie ref. 168.005. Am I right to think that this type of buckle was from the (early) 1970's, or was it already around in the 2nd part of the 1960's?

Yep, that buckle is from a few years later IIRC. A dog leg lugged Constellation often came with a faceted non-logo buckle:

You can see more about it in this article from Desmond (including the buckle pictured on page 3):

Thanks, D.

Cool buckle BTW.

Any time!

The buckle was on a 14k pie pan 168.005 that Hoi's friend bought from me a few years ago.

Oh well, now I have a cool 14k 168.005 with a buckle of lesser coolness.

A bit like Fonzie with a bad haircut

A 14K Constellation should have come with a 14K buckle. What I'm not sure if is whether the no symbol buckle is correct. This is coming from someone using that exact buckle on his 14K Constellation, Ref. 167.005.

I obtained mine separately from the watch and moved it to match the case metal. You almost never see 14K buckles. 18K and plated are relatively common.

I think those angled-off no logo buckles were used about 10 years earlier on certain Seamasters.

Hope this helps,

Sort of hijacking but there seem to be some buckle boys here. For which period is this one correct? I use it on my date at 6.

These were used with most Seamasters and Constellations during the 1950's to 1960's.

Thanks! You confirmed what I had guessed - by the design. Good quality original and far from what this charlatan has been peddling for years on Tradera. I have tried to get them to stop him but - no...
Fake as...

Another seller - same crap

Third seller - even more crappy

I have one just like this that I had plated in rose gold and use it on my "Date at 6".

The funny thing is that the ads above showing Dennis's buckle (I have one like that, too) are also for Seamaster "Date at 6" models. I think these were used only in the US though.

Sorry to dig up thia thread, i ve been trying to sort a rose gold buckle for my 1962 case ref 168.005 rose gold capped connie. Is this buckle offered from a seller periodly correct or is it even authentic as I do not see the "Plague" wording just the Swiss and marking. Thanks for the help guys!

I think that one is cast from an original. The Ω looks crude and fuzzy.
