Hi All Doe anyone know what is the correct Buckle for a 1957 Longines Conquest, as per photo. I suspect it is this one which was posted previously as it appears to match advertising at the time https://omegaforums.net/attachments/schliesse-jpg.500819/ . Interested if there were any other steel variants at the time. Also I believe the watch is in its original box based on the style of the logo, but would like other opinions Thanks Michael
Hello! the correct buckle is the one with the logo applied From Old Catalogues : The correct Buckle (picture from the web):
Actually that's not 100% correct, this buckle was used on the later 902x Conquest references or Flagships with cal. 34x. The 900x Conquests, like the very nice example from the OP, came with the more chunky buckles with bigger applied logo like the one on the right:
Thanks for the replies, Yako54, are you absolutely sure that this Buckle was for all the 900x conquests. I have looked a number of Longines Buckles over the past few days on original watches and the Buckles do appear to align to whatever was the current logo at the time. The Longines Logo changed in 1957 stretching out the wings which is the one on the left Logo on the Buckle on the right is from the 1954-1957 period which is absolutely correct for the launch of the Conquest 900x. I am interested to understand did the Buckles align to when a model was launched or the current Logo at around a watch was manufactured or sold.
Buckles were often dealer options. Back then, you bought the watch head and then bought a strap & buckle combo or a bracelet.
Buckles for some models were sourced by local importers, rather than Longines. So there may be more than one original style for a particular watch. gatorcpa
