Well the PO is rated at 600 meters and has a crystal caseback. Otherwise it would be just as thin.

Was just gonna say exactly what you posted.

It's been confirmed it has 21mm lug width. Just wish they had gone with 20mm.

Meh. Cant say the 42 mm pelagos is particulary unwearable as the l2g is modest and titanium is light material. The 42 mm version has more water resistance, date and the quirky clasp. To me this 39 mm is just boring as there are so many no date diver options from Tudor already.

Strange as they put out this:

Without a date, I can't even contemplate it.
For a Ti diver, I'm sticking to my IWC 3719.

I like it for what it is - a well-proportioned, proper-specced titanium diver's watch - but I think Tudor's mistake - as was with the FXD - is attaching the Pelagos name to it. Personally, I'd prefer a date complication and I hope for every potential owner's sake, it has 20mm lug spacing.

Indeed strange message from Tudor, but 21mm seems noticeable next to 20mm lugs of Sub or BB58.
Also, real case diameter is closer to 40mm.

Seeing the side-by-side, I think I actually prefer the sub

I checked out the watch today. It’s really good.

Anyone have experience with grade 2 titanium? It’s essentially unalloyed titanium. Any experiences?

Big fan of the original pelagos, especially in blue.
Have definitely noticed brands are trending back down in case sizes and I'm personally a fan. 39-41mm is a great range to be in for most brand designs.

I like it a lot and hoping we get a 39mm Rolex Sub at some point.

I think it’s a good compromise in size… I think only a very small percentage of divers go below 200 and it’s nice and thin.

Saw a video of the brushed dial and it’s very subtle.

X-33 gen 1 and gen 2 are grade 2 as well.

I was offered the Pelagos 39 over the weekend, so I went down to my Tudor AD to try it on (they've been trying to get me a Pelagos FXD for months and months but have had no luck, so offered me the Pelagos 39 as a consolation). I liked the Pelagos 39, but didn't love it, and chose not to buy the watch. The deciding factor for me was the sun-ray finishing on the dial and bezel. I would have much preferred the matte dial and bezel from the larger Pelagos.

The Pelagos 39 was light, as expected for titanium, but not flimsy. Bracelet was fine and the T-fit clasp was exactly as expected. No surprises. The bezel edge and crown were fantastic with better knurling on both for ease of operation. Both were significant improvements over my BB58, which I had worn for sake of comparison. The Pelagos 39 bezel was wider than that on the BB58, so that made the dial appear slightly smaller than that on the BB58. The mid-case on the Pelagos 39 was also better proportioned than the BB58 as it was not quite as slab-sided -- the Pelagos 39 mid-case band was beveled inward toward the back of the watch, which made it wear somewhat slimmer than the BB58 on wrist. To me, the Pelagos 39 felt very reminiscent of a 5-digit Rolex Submariner, which is a good thing in my book.

As stated above, I just didn't care for the sun-ray brushing on the dial and bezel in contrast to the case and bracelet. It was just too shiny for me and the bezel looked ghosted out at certain angles in the light due to the reflections.

Here are two photos (under the harsh jewelry store lighting) that show the dial/bezel finishing:

Also had the chance to try it on and while I like the proportions I preferred many of the details of my tried and true Pelagos 41mm blue -- matte finishes on dial and bezel, ability to grip the bezel with dive gloves or when wet, raised rehaute and deeper applied indices, overall balance. Honestly, I think the new downsized model is benefiting a bit from the current Tudo halo. I'd take the original over the 39mm if it fits, and the BB58 hands-down over the Pelagos 39 -- it's just a more complete and balanced design, IMO.

And if I owned a PO that I liked. I see no reason to trade down for the 39mm Pelagos.

Honestly, I prefer this l'il guy:

If someone tells you that his submariner with gold hands and steel from the King Solomon's mines is better than this tudor, you can call him aficionado 😁

I love the Pelagos line. I have a LHD and it's one my favorite watches. A true sea dweller for 7k less..

Like Tudor or not, they are listening to their customers and delivering exactly what they are asking for. There is younger generation of watch buyers that see Tudor very much the same way their parents saw Rolex.

BBPRO, Ranger, 39 Pelagos, Chrono, BB58 925

They are making some solid pieces for the money. I'd be worried if I was the competition.

I prayed they would make a smaller version of the Pelagos. Could never justify the original profile. Overall I’m undecided. It’s arguably better for my wrist and proportions but after trying I didn’t feel a connection. I would much rather they design a new watch than resize their existing lineups.

I love mine. Nothing like as shiny as under the ad lights. Looks much better in natural light. I’m wearing mine on the rubber currently. At 78 grams it’s like I’m not wearing a watch. Super comfy.
