I agree with clurri70, I'd rather have a PP world time, especially the first version in rose gold than the Nautilus, two different watches , but the currrent market prices on the Nautilus they don't justify what the watch can give you in the terms of complications....for some some reason bankers love that nautilus s/steel 馃榾

also...the Nautilus definitely does have an hybrid shape, it's not an octagon, it's not an oval shaped, it's not a circle, and the ears/guards at both sides are kind of weird. this is just personal, but I strongly thing it does not have balance, it does not have a strong geometry. Let's look at the royal oak , there is no comparison in terms of beauty and balance. but the Nautilus has a very strong resale value !!! I guess that what counts the most in collecting watches

I was looking for a finer watch. Went to Tourneu Chicago. Looked at a PP Calatrava date. Nice but price was absurd. Looked at these. Sharp edges and an unpleasant wrist feel turned me off. Also contributing to my negative PP experience was the sales woman who bagged on my Grand Reverso without prompt. End of this process is my Master Moon Triple in RG. Since then the price of the Nautilus has almost doubled I鈥檓 with @Tony C. ....... Making matters worse, my old boss landed a RG Aquanaught and doesn鈥檛 know what to do with it. Silly price too.

There's a reason why the Torneau Chicago location no longer exists. They literally went out of their way to denigrate anyone who walked into the place.

Bought the Master Moon from a very nice AD in Paris. Marshall Pierce is a class act though. Fine folks.

I love the shape of the watch as it is very unique and doesn't look like every other watch from a distance 馃榾

I have a Nautilus ref. 5990 which I was fortunate enough to purchase from an AD a while back. Gorgeous watch with my two favorite complications (chronograph and GMT) combined in one symmetrical package. I admit it doesn鈥檛 get as much wrist time as it should for fear of getting it banged up.
There are plenty of other great watches out there. I wouldn't claim this is the ultimate anything, but it is an amazing timepiece.

I like the aesthetics, the way it sits on the wrist, the way it flies under the radar and the versatility that it looks good with shorts & flip flops, jeans or dressed up with a suit.
I noticed the case has the same sort of counter balancing shelf oposite the shelf that protects the crown as the Caravel quartz chronograph I bought awhile back. The Caravel was advertised as a 44mm case but actually miked at closer to 48, normally far too large for my wrist, but the watch rode very securely and comfortably on my wrist even with a little slack left in the band. Still looked too big though and the tiny sub seconds stop wath was not practical.
I ended up giving that watch to my nephew for Christmas. I'll wait awhile and get a smaller mechanical chronograph with center seconds stop watch function, which is more my style.

I bought my 5711 from a colleague some time ago, fortunately before the prices went totally insane.

Some may not like the case shape, but I dig the thin case, and the amazing dial. It's quite comfortable on the wrist, and goes well with a suit, or smart casual, or even barefoot or with flip flops!

As the owner of a RO as well, I actually find the RO dressier than the 5711. The prices for both are now crazy, so ironically I tend to wear them less often as people start noticing them a bit more.

nice watch. however, i do see a bunion developing on your left foot.

i think the cost is crazy. the brand recognition allows for the cost though. i just don't know how peeps wold even want to wear a watch that costly. way to much worrying.... i don't even want to wear a 10k watch

i tried to scratch my nautilus/pam want....i think i did pretty inexpensively for a watch that was 6k new

@Bill Sohne always signs off good hunting, and that's exactly what the chase for watches is to me and why I enjoy it so much as I'm not interested in just paying over the odds to a dealer to get what I want. My moby dick is a 5711, but its the rarest of all 5711s, a 5711 at MSRP. That's my end goal, not an easy one but more than being able to say "Here's my Nautilus" I'd be proud to say "I paid retail for this".

I never really liked them. Then I saw one in the metal, and just had to get one. I don't wear it much but its a beautiful thing. The dial is stunning, it needs to be seen in person.

The design is amazing I think which is what people are obviously buying into.

IMO the movement is fairly outdated (not necessarily a terrible thing) and and the quality of the clasp and bracelet (pins???) is average/below average for the price. Pins is outrageous in a bracelet of a watch costing this much. I'm not aware of any advantage of pins over screws except for cost saving... maybe I'm wrong though.

Beautiful watch but +1 to the VC overseas ultra thin white gold, at a cheaper price second hand

I dig the Nautilus, tried a 5711 on once and it looked and felt amazing on the wrist to be honest. If it's good enough for Brad Pitt it's good enough for me. Seriously though that blue dial is superb in the flesh!

I like the idea of the Nautilus. I can appreciate the craftsmanship, dare I say the artistry of the Nautilus. Even the value, though far out of my budget, I can respect for it's significance not only in original cost to purchase but that it currently, at least, holds it so well. A very well-heeled friend of mine, also a watch guy, insisted once that I wear his when we went to lunch one day, just for the 'experience' of it (I refrained from impolite jokes), and have to admit, for the shape, it sits comfortably on the wrist.

All that said, I can say most of the same things about most Jackson Pollock paintings, and the end result is the same too: if I stare at one too long, I literally start to get a headache. 馃憥

Bob- I know Patty makes high quality watches, so not knocking the brand or even the model. But, I'm in agreement, it does not sing to me. and yes, I can afford one. To me, they are just boring.

Having tried on the nautilus, there was something off about the bracelet. My 15202 might be clouding my judgement but was surprised the Nautilus didn鈥檛 have a similar feel of craftsmanship.
That said...the Aquanaut is definitely a badass alternative.
