Hi All,

I'm selling the watch through Rolex forum. I'm located at EU and that's prefered location to make a deal. I was contacted by the buyer from US and offered payment through Amex card as there is additional buyers protection. Is it any hidden cases there which I should take in consideration? Any chance callback on transaction? What should I ask to minimise risk on transaction? As I understand it's working as bank wire?
Thanks in advance for your input folks!!!

Firstly buyer has low activity on the forum without any referencies, just 8 posts from 2011 and thats was first bell for me. He offered me to pay by wire from his Amex card when I rejected Amex transaction through Paypal. My main issue is payment through Amex. Is here any chance to cancel the transaction after I'll send the watch? I'm trying to prevent any kind of fraud if its possible. Thanks.

I don’t know. Try calling Amex. I’m unsure what pay via wire from an Amex card means.

+1 ... call Amex ...I think they offer a wire service. I also think that wanting to wire from a cc tells me that the buyer hasn’t got the cash.

Tell him you’ll charge him 50 dollar less for the fee to wire himself the money. Then tell him to deposit the money to you cash.

Already told him that I will accept that payment if he will provide referencies from any trustworthy forum members. Other way I'm uncomfortable to go further. Thanks for your reply!

I have been a member of RF since January 2012 with a whopping total of 4 posts😁
I don't think his low post count means the guy is up to no good but you should not do the transaction if your gut is telling you there is something off.
By the way, what you seeling 😗

I worked with a lot of merchants in the past who wouldn't accept Amex because it was so easy to cancel payment later, and Amex always sided with the cardholder. Be careful.

For merchant accounts AMEX takes 3 1/2%. That's a big reason AMEX is not accepted everywhere - they take too much. Another vote for calling AMEX and finding out everything involved.

I don't see how you can control how somebody wires money into your checking account. If he hadn't mentioned AMEX you wouldn't know whether the money came from Joe Blow Credit Union, Bank of America, or AMEX. He pays the fees to wire the money into your account and then you'd ship the watch once you get the funds. Personally I would withdraw the funds or transfer them to another account for safekeeping but if you're wanting to get an international wire I don't see any issue with using this one.

There are indeed extra protections, for him not you, when paying by any credit card. He can say the watch never arrived or you sent him an Invicta and do a fraudulent charge back. I wouldn't personally accept any credit card funding, either via PP or direct.

Not true any longer. These restrictions were removed about 3-4 years ago.
