Your watch your rules. Bank transfer and nothing else. Plenty of other buyers.

Low post count 馃槖 wants it his way of paying 馃槖 Amex 馃槖

The minute you have to ask if it鈥檚 risky, it鈥檚 risky.

There are indeed extra protections, for him not you, when paying by any credit card. He can say the watch never arrived or you sent him an Invicta and do a fraudulent charge back. I wouldn't personally accept any credit card funding, either via PP or direct.
This. Also, because someone mentioned PayPal in connection with paying for purchases by AMEX, understand that when you buy something using your AMEX (or any other credit card) to fund the PayPal transaction, AMEX won't provide any of its usual buyer protection at all, because the "merchant" is PayPal, not the seller. AMEX would just tell you to take it up with PayPal and if PayPal rules against you, you're SOL with no backup from AMEX. The only exception would be for fraudulent/unauthorized use of your card.

Rolex can not be send to USA via privat seller !!!!

costums regulation.
Fake news ... this is not true. I鈥檝e checked and imported two without a problem. The reason I had to check is that the courier in Italy was refusing to take the watch from the seller on the first try. Seller had to find another courier. There are no longer any restrictions on international private sales of Rolex watches.

I sold my tag heuer watch to a guy from Melbourne and he used amex link to his paypal. I told him Il send the watch once the money is cleared and transferred to my other account and by afternoon everything is okay and sent the watch. But still if you sense something fishy just dont risk it. Cheers!

I realize the issue has been resolved but this was a bank wire service that AMEX offers. Presumably he could have told the seller he was wiring the money and asked for the account information and that would have been the end of it. The seller doesn鈥檛 know if the wire into his account came from AMEX or Bank of America. He would just know the funds were there. Had the buyer not volunteered the AMEX info regarding the bank wire it would have been a non-issue. What鈥檚 next the seller asking for my credit report? Do I have to send them a business plan and wear a suit for a Skype video? 馃榿

is there any update about how this actually works? is it a regular wire transfer? if so, if you receive the money, it cannot be recalled.

In that case you at least wouldn't need to wear pants...

See below. AMEX has an actual bank that offers savings accounts, etc so this is more likely done through them versus the traditional charge card. Although the buyer in the OP situation probably thought AMEX would protect him if he used their wire transfer service I am guessing that he would have had little protection once the funds were sent. It's a tough world out there and although many sellers say "I would only take full cash in front of a police station at 2pm on a Wednesday," many sellers aren't in such a situation that they can make such demands. Selling a full set Zenith Daytona for $17,000? Sure you can make all the demands you want. Sell a quartz Omega from 2002 and you'll probably have to be a little more open to various buyers and payment options.

Making Wire Transfers
For businesses and individuals that want to transfer money to someone internationally, American Express offers the FX International Payment program. You do not need an American Express card, and there are no sign-up fees. Complete an application form online, then receive your account log-in details from American Express.

From your online account, you can set up transfers, view current foreign currency exchange rates and track past transfers. Certain wire transfers incur fees, so when you enroll, you link a bank account to your FX International account to cover those fees and any foreign currency exchange costs.
