But I expect higher standards of behavior from members of this forum, especially to each other. Particularly anyone hoping to make a living selling watches to members.

It was also a stupid decision and will make little financial gain in the long run, compared to the massive window into this members moral behavior, that certainly makes me not want to work with him.

Nailed it.

Also, had no idea Paul made one in aluminum. I tried the brass one that another member bought from Paul. Quite nice, but really heavy.

Is one material better than the other?

Brass is a softer metal and less likely to damage the caseback than aluminum but, the added weight of brass makes it easier to remove difficult casebacks because it requires less downward force on the caseback to pry open. The added weight gets the tool in the grooves with more weight.

Of course it's not illegal

BINGO! Legality is not the only standard we want to be holding people to here...

IMO just one more reason not to deal with this particular member...

Guys (and ladies) - I will say it again, because I feel like I'm being misunderstood, I don't agree with what was done by Kirill as Paul makes his in Aluminum (a fact I learned after my first posting). People can decide to deal with Kirill or not - he sold me my first couple watches and treated me fairly.

This is not a Speedmaster copy made by Rolex in a different material, and it darn sure isn't a 911. The product in question is a (well made, I really like it!) chunk of metal with a several little nubs sticking out of it to twist off the back of a watch. I have very similar old tools made by manufacturers before Paul, and I don't believe it to be his original design. Again, I don't agree with what was done and wouldn't do it myself, but I feel like he's being singled out for something that (many of us) support everyday from other sellers and manufacturers.

That said, I still fail to see how this is different than many of the products people buy everyday that are not original designs of the seller. This one just hits a bit closer to home. For example, how many manufacturers are out there right now knocking off JPM's strap designs (assuming he was the first)? How many of you are wearing watches right now with leather straps that have one stitch on each side near the lugs that weren't manufactured at JPM's plant in Italy?

That is not a stan

There is a very good chance that he bought a opener and then copied it and reproduced it .

Just does not sit right .

I believe there’s a big difference between what I did, and a guy buying one from me and then start selling exact copies….

I think most of us understand that...

Please leave personal insults alone!

We are all entitled to our thoughts but some are not welcome here and best left as 'thoughts'.

While I/we personally don't agree with how it's been done, it doesn't give me or anyone else any right to insult the guy personally.

DLT222: If the guys integrity and morals are in question then he "personally" has opened the door with his actions. I know a guy who bought an omega from him with an aftermarket dust cover. I know another who bought a Speedmaster with a serial numbered Bridge from a Seamaster sold on eBay and installed it on a Speedmaster as original and correct. Why can't someones integrity and morals be questioned if he repeatedly and openly is found to be doing things that are unethical and downright sleezy?

Don't we as a community have the right to police ourselves in order to protect others from being cheated? If we constantly edit and redact comments because they "hurt someones feelings" or "are against forum policy" then we are covering up the facts/truth and potentially leaving the door open for others to get cheated because they couldn't openly find the information they needed to make an educated decision.

Paul is a good guy who made a great tool. I own one myself. I hate to see the "little guys" get taken advantage of, thats all.

I agree with @DLT222

Lets leave all personal issues aside. I think many of us a reacting from a place of disappointment (and more) that a member of our community, has behaved in this way toward another.

Whats done is done, lets move on and get back to the business of enjoying our watches, that frankly, @Pahawi has done more for in practical terms, than anyone else apart from the architects of this very forum.

Let us not descend in to a witch hunt, and vote simply with our wallets, and not participate in any threads or sales with members who we are not happy with. Silent protest is very powerful. It also causes us ourselves less damage. I plan to move on. (after ordering a few more from Paul).

And remember, this is all meant to be for fun. (Well it is for me).

So lets have some fun and show off the original opener:

Peace out!

I hear you...

I for one will buy one from Paul as and when I need one and it's made me question the integrity of Krill who I respected before this. It still does not give me or anyone else the right to insult him personally.

We can call his integrity & loyalty in to question for sure.

Kiril is no longer a member and never will be again, I should make clear however that isn't an invitation for people to jump in with personal attacks or bagging the guy now that he's no longer around, as far as we're concerned this is concluded.

Agree - I personally know several people in business with topnotch integrity and I'm sure @Spacefruit does also. We both know some dogs also but you don't have to be one in order to find success (and wealth).

I don't mean everyone...
