Wow.

I saw the Instagram post last night, instantly recognised it and assumed it had been done in collaboration with @Pahawi

This is kind of a pointless post, but I'd echo the thoughts of many others in saying my immediate reaction was disappointment that one member would do this to another.

The legality is utterly irrelevant. It's morally wrong and that's the only issue for me.

I also find it extremely surprising. One can assume he's a reasonably successful in his business and he surely must have realised this had the potential to alienate a large number of clients. Even if the morals are completely removed, it just makes no financial sense.

Looking on the bright side, it's reinforced the fact that this forum is more than a bunch of random, anonymous guys (and the odd girl) discussing watches. It's a genuine community, which is the reason it's the only forum regularly use.

I want to thank the moderators and other esteemed members for showing the right way to deal with such an issue.

I continue to learn from everyone on here about the right way to handle yourself and your business...either in watches or just everyday life.

Onwards and upwards gentleman...now a watch picture

Wow, away a few hours and I come back to all this. What a mess… I understand there in the past have been other issues, but I still feel bad being involved in such result. Sorry if I acted in a way I shouldn’t have.

Paul - I don't think anyone would ever accuse you of doing anything wrong in this - I was referring to the fact that all this thread bumping got you another order 😀

It's now time for the "YouseeTimmy" moment. (like at the end of an episode of Lassie, when the mother or father drew the conclusion for the show's lesson - akin to the moral at the end of an Aesop's Fable - which always started with "You see, Timmy......")

In some countries, stealing another's intellectual property or design is normal business. Hell, the people in these places don't care even if it DOES have a patent, so what makes you think they'd hesitate for one second to grab something like this for themselves? There are plenty of corners of the globe where swindling, scamming, and stealing are considered a good way to do business. These places don't have consumer protection agencies and legal recourses, nor do the people who live there care about other country's laws. It's all about grabbing whatever dollars you can via any method available to you.

This is why many of us warn members off watches from certain areas. The risk of a scam of some sort, from something as simple as an overexposed or Photoshopped picture to hide defects to an outright fake listing, is too great.

Lesson over, continue on.

All are still welcome to PM me, if they want me to do an OF Opener, brass or aluminum, but with my setup, I can’t offer them cheaper than $90 each + shipping, unless you buy more than one. I fully understand, if you want to save hard earned money and buy from the other place.

Thanks,
Paul

I have no business opening a caseback...but yet I still want one of these! haha. Glad Pahawi is getting credit where credit is due, and a nice story that you get to spend time with your son as well as each order rolls in.

@Pahawi Whew! This has been quite a whirlwind and I'm sorry to hear what happened to you. In no way do I "need" a Speedmaster opener, but I would like to be a proud owner of one of your creations in brass. I'm in Boston MA USA and will send you a PM. I really do appreciate what you offered to the forum membership in prior threads. Thank you.

Don't know if I want one, need one, or can afford one, but if I do, after all this, I will buy from Paul, without question.
