Opinions on this rose gold 40s bumper Omega - too underpriced?

We have other Brazilian members. However, Brazil is a huge country and none of us have any idea of the city where the watch is located.

A reputable shop keeper would hold the watch for you while you make the appropriate shipping arrangements.

One of the purposes of this forum is for members to have access to a picture library of watches. You have defeated that purpose, which is why I wrote that what you did was “not cool”.

You can make up for it by restoring the pictures when you have purchase confirmation.

Yes, but I don't blame the OP for removing the photo. After much reading of the expert advice here and elsewhere and trying my luck, I've learned that shopping for a vintage Omega online is nearly futile unless you are very knowledgeable and patient, have plenty of spare time, and can afford to eat a few mistakes. In this case, the location of the watch in Brazil might have been enough to scare off searchers who aren't in the same country, or continent. (No offense to Brazilians.) Offered for the same price by a seller in the US, UK, or Canada, it might well be long gone. But English-speaking Omega collectors now know all about it.

We’ve seen people “stealing” other people’s good deals before

I don't think anyone on this site would stoop that low.*

Thank you all for understanding the situation. I never intended to "rob" people of the pictures. As a matter of fact, I was worried but on the other hand glad the pictures of this particular watch drew so much attention and that I somehow also can contribute to this community, and not only draw information and expertise out of it for my own benefit.

However, as Syrte and mozartman have stated, I felt compelled to make this move as to protect my investment and my purchase. I didn't land on the website of this particular dealer by chance. I have been actively searching for a nice vintage Omega for months, so the removal was also a protection of the time I invested in.

I am more than willing and looking forward to upload them again, and surely even share more of it once I have the watch in my hand. However, I and many other newcomers who are trying their best to do their homework would appreciate, if the tone in particular of gatorcpa would not be that aggressive, as almost as if I was commiting a crime, that I have to make up for.

As stated above, I am aware that I do owe this community a great deal, and Iook forward to somehow contribute, but so much aggressiveness is uncalled for, I believe.

I take no offense at all. It is a fact that many people in Brazil still have no access to good and decent education and therefore are not able to speak any other language than portuguese. There are many people who would have done well in many fields and businesses but just won't go international and will focus to deal only domestically. That reduces by a long margin the value they can claim on their goods, since, specially right now, people in Brazil are not buying anything that is not strictly necessary.

I appreciate the understanding, thank you.

We’ve seen people “stealing” other people’s good deals before, and there are many people watching OF— dealers and others —in search of good purchase opportunities.

So I completely understand the OP removing those pictures out of precaution until the watch has been secured.

Personally I think it’s fine so long as he posts them again once the watch has shipped out and the purchase is complete.

I’m counting on seeing those pictures soon!!
And many more of them when the watch has arrived!

Best regards
Thank you very much for the understanding, will do, as soon as I have the watch in my hand!

Hi @Rudi99, looking forward to the pictures.

As for the comments regarding their removals, this is just my opinion as I’m not a moderator (@gatorcpa is the moderator actually) but I wouldn’t get carried away.
everybody has jobs and other things they’re busy with, sometimes we post just a couple words, and the internet may distort your perception, but two little words don’t amount to an aggression.

There’s an American phrase which comes to mind, “let’s not make a federal case out of it”.

My “aggressive” tone was used for a reason.

Too many times we see someone who posts a watch, asks for advice, and upon receiving information they seek, immediately removes all traces of their existence on this forum.

Just like in real life, an online community has a culture. Our culture in this community frowns on the “hit and run” scenario described above. We have specific rules against removing pictures on our sales forums, even after watches have been sold there. However, this is not the sales forum and you are certainly free to take the pictures off if you want.

I understand your reasoning and hope (based on your subsequent posts) that once you safely receive this lovely watch, you stick around and become part of the Omega Forums community.

Take care and be safe!
gatorcpa

PS - There are ways you could have made it more difficult for some to have traced the pictures back to a specific website. Don’t just copy and paste the URL into the post. Instead, copy the photos to your phone or computer and upload them into the post.

Fair enough, but as for gatorcpa, you should know that he offers an enormous amount of useful information here absolutely free of charge. It would be hard for me to equal the score with him, but when I find that fantastic valuable vintage Omega at a dirt cheap price, I will post many beautiful pictures here. Once I have it in hand, as you say.

Hi guys and thank you gatorcpa for the time and for the message. Maybe for the lack of sound and tone it might have been appeared exagerated from my side.

Thank you once more for the understanding and I absolute understand your point. You have also invested precious time in creating this community, which benefits many enthusiasts and I appreciate that. I am unexperienced and also didn't realise you are a moderator, so I see of course why you would act on protecting the time of people in the forum. Sorry if I offended you.

As soon as the watch is here, I will gladly post more fotos of it!

As a matter of fact, I am considering buying a second watch from the same dealer but still have doubts about it. If I am not pushing too far, soon I will post another thread with your advice about the pictures in mind and maybe people will find it also interesting and will help me further, if I have not already completely ruined my image here. 😜

So now that the OP has purchased the watch, where are the photos. Lots of promises, but still not posted. After getting such helpful advice, it's the least he can do, and this type of behavior could make members less interested in helping him in the future.
