Opinions on this rose gold 40s bumper Omega - too underpriced?

Hello, members of OF.

Still looking out for a first Omega vintage piece, I stumbled upon this old one with no name (no Seamaster) in an online shop in Brazil, where I was born. I currently live in Germany and because the brazilian currency is suffering at the moment, it makes the price of the watch more attractive.

The reference number does not appear to be very looked after but the few fotos and pieces of information I gathered both here and on Google seemed to confirm that at least the movement 351 and the case match and belong to each other.

I have to say I have never found this particular kind of dial in any vintage Omega, where only the 12, 3, 6, and 9 are not showing. At first I was very skeptical but the more I look it, the more original it seems to me. I have also never seen rose gold capped vintage Omegas before.

Based on the many pictures of redials, I believe it can be safe to assume this is not a redial and the hands look original as well. The watch case was slightly polished. I would very much like to hear feedback on the patina and on the watch as a whole.

The only downside though is the crown, which is not original.

Given the very low price (around 300€), it seems to me it is not such a bad deal, but maybe I am wrong.

Looking forward to your feedback! Thank you beforehand.

Go for it - as you have realised yourself pink gold capped is very uncommon and the condition is not bad. 👍

One of my favorite dial styles. 👍

Very nice watch and an excellent price.

If you pass on it, send it to me.

Would have been better to read "Already paid the guy for it". You better haul ass before someone beats you to it. 😁

Advice here can be so confusing for the noobs...in this thread we have this:

Would have been better to read "Already paid the guy for it". You better haul ass before someone beats you to it. 😁

And in another thread asking about one that was already purchased, we have this:

Ask before spending your money.

I guess it depends if the watch is good or not...if not you should have asked, and if it was, why the hell are you asking?

😀

Apologies guys, I actually took janice&freds advice seriously and I was scared to death by thinking someone might have searched the internet and found the website.

I just had someone of my family wire the money and waiting for the confirmation of payment from the dealer.

I meant absolutely no disrespect to anyone. I was just a little worried.

Well Al I think the general consensus in this thread is the watch is worth buying right away. So...yes it depends on the watch and of course there is nothing wrong with asking first.

Um...why would the buyer have to be from this forum? If the watch was listed on a website the entire world can see it. After all you found it. 😁

I didn't say I disagreed with the advice in either thread, just to be clear. 😀

Yes I see your point once I re-read and understood your last sentence in the post. You already know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. 👍

It is absolutely true, but the post and the fotos drew more attention than I expected. Also, the watch community in Brazil is not as large as it is in Europe or in the USA. The watch has been on sale since March, and a few people (only locals) asked questions about it and that was it.

If there are any people who can appreciate the value of this vintage Omega, they are here on this forum... Still, it would take someone with a very good friend or family living in Brazil so they could receive the package and send it elsewhere, but I just didn't want to take the chance. 😀

To be honest.. Yesterday I even had a nightmare where many people in this forum revealed they were brazilian and someone bought the watch ahead of me. LOL

We have other Brazilian members. However, Brazil is a huge country and none of us have any idea of the city where the watch is located.

A reputable shop keeper would hold the watch for you while you make the appropriate shipping arrangements.

One of the purposes of this forum is for members to have access to a picture library of watches. You have defeated that purpose, which is why I wrote that what you did was “not cool”.

You can make up for it by restoring the pictures when you have purchase confirmation.

We’ve seen people “stealing” other people’s good deals before, and there are many people watching OF— dealers and others —in search of good purchase opportunities.

So I completely understand the OP removing those pictures out of precaution until the watch has been secured.

Personally I think it’s fine so long as he posts them again once the watch has shipped out and the purchase is complete.

I’m counting on seeing those pictures soon!!
And many more of them when the watch has arrived!

Best regards
