Hello all,

I stumbled across a 167.005 Connie with in steel with the gold hands and indices configs. To my eyes, everything looks good except the one bite on the bottom right lug which was disclosed to me.

Everything looks good, even and light patina on the dial. But I'm hoping for second opinions here.

The only thing that sticks out to me is the caseback. Yes, there is a protective sticker on it but what stands out to me is the area surrounding the Observatory in the middle which looks like a circular bump of metal or some sort. I've only seen caseback where everything is smooth around the Observatory. Is there another variation of the caseback for these?

Appreciate your help.

UPDATE: seller sent new photo of caseback with the sticker off, looks better but there is still a raise on the metal to the Observatory. Is this just a variation? I've only seen caseback with smooth surface around the Observatory.

Actually, upon looking at the caseback closer, I think that the circular thing around the Observatory might just be the air bubble created by the protective sticker due to uneven surface.

The case lugs are not very sharp. Patina on the dial. Some deep pitting on the caseback. Depends on the price.

Thanks, seller is asking 1450 USD which I think is kinda fair.

It seems there is a second Omega logo on the crystal : odd
I've seen similar case backs on early 168.005 (1961-1962) so IMO nothing special about the circular depression around the medallion.

The ‘second’ Omega logo is often seen as an artefact of the photograph.

The case back style with a flat plane and ridged medallion is a known variation on doglegs.

(Note: 14900/14902 case reference up to 1963, 167.005/168.005 case reference from 1963 onwards)

Thank you all. Love this forum and this is one of the reasons.

I've decided to pass on this and will wait for a better one.

The second logo is (always) a reflection (mirror) on the second hand.😁

Not perfect, but appears to be a nice legit watch in average condition. I suspect it would face up nicely on the wrist. Really just a matter of price and personal preference.
