Mustang sales have been declining for years...maybe MSRP is contributing to that trend.
US sales in 1966 were 607,000, in 2024 only 47,000, the lowest in history. The Mustang is the only car they make for the US, everything else is trucks, SUVs and some EVs which they lose a ton of money on.

It's a much smaller market here down under, but the Mustang is going exceptionally well here. It helps that we didn't really get the Mustang until Ford gave it proper gearboxes, IRS, and the really good engines, so we never really hard the crummy Mustangs of previous generations and the vast majority of them are V8s (about 94%).

We actually bought 9,165 of them back in 2017 when they first hit the market, and I'm fairly sure the new one will his similar peak figured over its lifespan, despite our population being less than a 10th of America's as being able to do a burnout or chuck some doughies in a McDonalds parking lot is quite important here.

@JimInOz who used the laughing reaction knows how true that is from his youth, 'Single-Pegger Jim' as Maccas staff and police used to call him back in the day has had a whole lot of practice I'm sure

Another vote for Michelin here, the Pilot Sport series are fantastic. @dsio mentioned the 4S which is their UUHP line, but my daily driver is not quite that hardcore so I've been sticking with the UHP's, which was the 4 and is now the 5. I've tried a few different brands in that category and Michelin are the easy standout, excellent grip in all conditions and still really good treadwear. Was also a fan of the old Goodyear Eagle F1, but that was many years ago so I don't know if that still hold true.

Bridgestone (Potenza RE003) were the only tyres I truly hated. Very poor grip for the category, which then lead into also extremely poor treadwear. Thankfully they gripped so bad I also wore through them in only 15,000 kms so I was at least rid of them quite quickly. 😜

As for the repair topic, I have a full size spare but I work in an area where there seems to be an above average amount of debris on the road, and I've had a number of puncture repairs over the years. I don't bother with a kit myself, I just change it and drop it in to a tyre place when I have a spare half hour. It's never been a problem.

On Sunday I was driving past our Ford dealership and I noticed a new white, 60th anniversary Mustang 5.0 on the lot. Took a look at it, yikes, MSRP $65,000. On the window sticker was a 'compact spare and jack' option.....$695.
The GTD Mustang is only $229,000.

The first dude who loses control and spins off into a crowd leaving cars and coffee is going to become the most viewed Mustang driver in history, even Steve McQueen won’t top that. Such is the risk of owning that particular Mustang.

Porsche doesn’t use run flats. That’s all you need to know.
They also make you buy an overpriced watch with your GT car…
Well, who knew that just a couple of weeks on from this exchange, we might be buying one for the wife. Not a GT car, but a 2024 Macan T - anyone have any experience with these? Going for a test drive on Friday...
