Good Afternoon All,

What are you thoughts on this Pie Pan.

I was again looking up watches and this popped up with a good price. So I pulled the trigger and received the watch head today. I shouldn’t look at watches on my phone.

Case# 167.005
Serial# 20851378
Movement :551

Not sure if I did well or bad.

The “O” in Chronometer is definitely wonky.

What is everyone’s thoughts ? Pics below.

Without magnification, the watch looks good to my barely educated eye. I too see the some of the lettering as a little odd. If I zoom in, the minute markers look less than accurate for an original, esp the minute marker under 12, but that could just be patina hanging off the end. Hang tight for the pros to weigh in

Once your heartrate goes down, share how you took the photos with the magnification, did you use a loupe and a smartphone? Nicely done.

I would say (subject to price) you did very well!
All looks good to me, it’s a nice honest looking Connie.
Those dial fonts are fine and although not the usual norm they are a known variation.
Here’s one of mine with same wonky ‘0’.

Hey @DaveK , Yep. Loupe and a smartphone. My first time trying it. Loupe was one that was recommended here , about thirty bucks on Amazon

The dial is pretty dusty.

@impalla62ss A BelIomo triplet 10x. I saw the recommendation here.

It’s pretty decent for checking out watch dials.

+1
Wonky Os are okay (odd, but true, given Omega’s reputation for quality)
All looks good to me.
The watch has had a life but the facets are still clearly defined plus a nice dial 👍
Some signs of rotor rub on the movt so make sure you get it serviced.

Thanks @Peemacgee .

Service is on the list.
Would you happen to know a site where I can reference part numbers for items below?
I am pretty sure it needs at minimum:
Crystal and tension ring :
Back gasket
Service crown

My advice would be to find a competent watchmaker that has access to the correct parts - you will need one for the rotor issue.
Be aware that the original style crown is no longer available- so you will have to decide if ‘guaranteed’ waterproofness is more important than originality.
If you let folks know where you are (country or state will do) you should get some suggestions for watchmakers.

@Peemacgee. Thanks for the advice.

I’m in San Jose ,CA. I would prefer to drop off my watches in person rather than ship.

I actually looked at a place in Campbell called RolliWorks that specializes in Rolex. I just called to get a quote on a general service for an IWC. From their site they do good work. But they seem a little bit higher priced.

I didn’t ask if they could get Omega parts.

Would it that bad to replace the crown, but save the old one for down the road “correctness”?

Any suggestions for a watchmaker in my area? I have a C -case that I would like services too.

Let us know how you like it once it arrives.

😀 Someone on the forum once said that his watchmaker wouldn’t sell him a loupe because “it would drive him mad”. Wise words.

If you do a google search for Omega Forums watchmaker San Jose you should get some threads for recommendations.

Re the crown - the correct replacement is round and knurled so has a very different look.
On the plus side it is much easier to use and will give you better moisture resistance.
The crown on this dogleg of mine was replaced before I bought it.
