Hi OF members,
I have this Croton Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver with V23 movement.
Which will soon be up on sale section.
I am no expert of this model, though I want to give an honest desciptions, accurate infomation to all OF members, especially for new members, collectors.
Based on my research the bezel insert looks like a replacement, are there any other problems that you can notice, I am open for all opinions, judgements.
Thank you all in advanced.
Harry

@SpeedTar knows a lot about these, and he started a thread with lots of great photos:

I'm not an expert, but I've had a couple of these. I agree about the bezel insert. Otherwise I'm not seeing any obvious red-flags. Small running seconds hand looks slightly different (sword vs. alpha), but maybe that's the photos.

Here is my similar NG (but Valjoux 92) for comparison. I have the same crown as you, which is interesting since @SpeedTar thinks mine is incorrect. Maybe they have both been replaced with a common generic. Or maybe they are both actually correct. The pushers are different, but perhaps that is because they are different movements.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the info, you are right about the sub second hand, now I noticed it, they have different shape.
The Crown is unsign, but do have steeped.
Some other example I saw Nivada sign, but also I am clueless about these.

Yes, my crown is also unsigned. The "step" he is referring to is on the outside of the crown. Both you and I have unsigned crowns with no step.

Here is a stepped crown from a pre-Chronomaster. Just showing it as an example. I really don't know what is correct, and I don't think I'd be too worried about it. I have seen so many different crowns on these.

Ooh, I thought he was talking about under crown stepped.👎::facepalm1::
Ok let us both agree on that.
Thanks again for sharing the information, Dan.
Cheers,

Nice watch, you should keep it 😉.

Here are two photos from the book.

I would also agree regarding the bezel. It is different from all six vaiations mentioned in the book. And it has this gloss.

The batons might have been relumed--bit suspicious that it's nearly the exact same shade as the dial lume markers. Usually, the lume on the former darkens b/c it's in contact with the metal, whereas the lume on the dial just goes puffy and fuzzy over time. But a nice piece, overall!

I think that all original crowns for chronomasters should be signed .

Chronograph's crown on picture above (pre chronomaster) is correct. They started putting signed crowns on Chronomasters

I think unsigned crowns are fine for many Chronomasters especially the ones released by Croton.

Have scanned some more information:
