Opinions on a 145.012-68

Hi
I’ve come across this very late 145.012 (26.54xx serial) from the original owner family (original warranty to his name, service papers, etc.).
The seller says only the crystal was replaced during a previous service.
To my eyes, it looks original and quite appealing! But I seem to never manage to assess the polish condition...
How does it seem to you? Is there something I’m missing? How would it rate on speedmaster101’s chart?

Thanks!

Pictures aren't great but I think the case is very good with just some wear

The original lines are strong and you see very good brushing on the upper lugs.

Side view is difficult to judge, the picture is out of focus.

Lume is a bit weak but seems to be complete.

I would rate it somewhere between 'fair' and 'good'

Last time I tried to judge a Speedi case I was proven wrong, maybe I'm better with this one 😉

I'd rate this good overall for sure. The bezel is in great shape, all correct parts, lume original if not overly attractive. The overall appearance is attractive. Case is worn but not bad at all. Great to get the original warranty etc too! Would be interested in a movement shot though....

Waiting to hear what others say with more experience.

Of course the tritium is tired... But with original papers, it's a nice one to me...😜

Thanks for these opinions!
It’s a nice piece but the seller’s asking price seems too high regarding what’s been said here (10k€). Original papers from owner’s family is nice to be sure it has not been prepped up by a merchant but not much more in my eyes...

I wouldn’t put too much value on the papers. From my understanding, the papers are all hand-written.

Also, is it me or the dial has a brownish tinge to it?

hey @Dsplash Dial looks ok to me, not put off by the lime consistency on this one. Although you'd want to put your target side by side others here on the forum and compare to get a sense of what grabs your attention/love versus not. Can do same thing on Will's site you mention (How would it rate on speedmaster101’s chart?). imho the case-back photo (which may just be bad/not clear) shows the etched seahorse, lettering and horseshoe are just about gone, a breakpoint for me...to each his/her own and collectors have a wide range of views as to what may be acceptable (which could impact resale price later down the road). atbs going with your taste is really key while good to get other views.

Fair - Often the quality of a well used watch, one that has lived a useful life. It might be damaged or missing some service parts, movement needing work. This category can sometimes be improved with sympathetic work and service. It will remain fair if after service it still shows a damaged bezel, a dial with damage or missing, or discolored plots, and a case with missing lines or heavy damage.

Good - Complete with correct parts. it is likely the lowest condition most collectors or owners are happy with. The case and dial and bezel should be without significant damage, though there may be some wear or light marks on case or bezel. The plots are an attractive color not green or missing. Some minor plot damage or issues are acceptable. The bezel may have several marks but no major damage.

In my opinion:

Case/Caseback ... lines still present, has scratches and dings, caseback looks heavily worn Fair +/ Good - ( 7,500)
Bezel .... very nice, best feature of the watch, some fading, but no obvious damage Good+ (11,000)
Hands and Dial... dial plots have uneven patina ( some may find attractive, I don't), maybe some missing lume, hands have some discoloration and lume non matching and darker then lume plots Fair maybe Fair + (7,500)

145012-67 5,000(Poor) 6,000 (Fair) 9,000 (Good) 14,000(Very Good) 18,000(Excellent)

Average of 3 components comes to approximately 8,666USD for the head alone. Warranty papers add some value, service papers not so much if any. Does owner have original boxes? Does owner have original bracelet?

Price at 10K Euro (11,700 USD ) is high in my opinion, but, it is only my opinion, better priced at less than 9K USD

thanks a lot, that about confirms what I ended up thinking! No original box or bracelet but sold with a speedmaster steel bracelet from the 90s (don’t have the reference but looks like a 1479/812 from the pics

Elle est bien trop chère je trouve. On l'a tous vu celle-ci déjà depuis hier, si elle n'est pas déjà partie, c'est qu'il y a mieux pour moins cher 😜

That’s not even remotely market value; that’s called luck. 😀 Congrats!

Is that chronograph hand right?

I thought the 145.012-67's were supposed to have a tear-drop/spear-shaped end? And the flat end came in the .022?

This has been discussed ad nauseum, both type of chrono hands are correct for the 145.012-67. Search OF and you will see many threads where this is discussed and a wide consensus that agree both are correct.
