Hi OF,

Seeking your opinions on the below 145.022 69 ST. The watch is in working condition but needs service.

Speedmaster Pro - Circa 1970
Reference No.: 145.022 69 ST
Serial No.: 32217272
Movement: Omega 861

The case overall is fair, my only concern is the lume plots and hands are in poor condition.
The movement looks fair but I'm concerned about a couple of the screws not being correct.

What price would you offer for this piece?
M
Nice crater box! Seen these go recently for €1000.

I was thinking USD1,000 - 1,500 all things considered a nice piece of history.

lol, good luck with that. Would be a major coup but I don't rate your chances.

I was in this situation once: I wanted a SW Speedy, I looked around, eventually found one at a price that fit the budget I had set, I let price be my dominating decision making factor and I ended up regretting it, and eventually sold the watch. I never fell in love with the watch, everytime I put it on, it just didn't have the innate beauty to capture me, it was honest, but beat to hell. Now, everyone's beauty standard is different of course, but I implore you to really consider the aesthetic as much or more than the price as there won't be much you can do to this particular piece, and you can't wear the box, so I would entirely discount the box in the decision - you can buy a crater box by itself if you really want one, they are out there, so its not like the box makes it that much more special (IMHO). I would focus much more on the quality and aesthetic of the piece itself and let that drive your decision. Good luck!

That box, I can't find these anywhere.
It is because they are cardboard and don’t last well. Solid gold would be cheaper.

Didn't know they used that material, that's a pity.
