Hello everyone. Looking for opinions from the community here on a 145.022 I am looking at. I have searched many of the threads here but thought I would solicit some opinions as well. Movement looked great, 32xxxx serial. Photos below. Thanks in advance for the help!
First of all replacement Chrono hand. Minute counter is suspect and running seconds might be replaced and is slightly damaged. Dials wrong for a -71 as denoted by serial number. Dial is late 77 or later.
Yeah man it may be helpful if you give folks a better idea of the input you are looking for, and provide more/better pictures. The members here are very generous with their advice. You arent giving them much to go on.
Sorry about that. Had to take the photos on the go. Just looking for some general input on the case, dial and hand condition (if it’s possible to tell from photos). Thanks again.
I’ve been at the bar... bad Foo. If it’s a step it’s correct for a -71. At the end of the day it comes down to price. The non matching Chrono second really stands out. Case appears average. I’d take my -76 at 3.2k over this in a heartbeat even though this has a “better” bezel. As my hands and dial match.
Well it is hard to say on those photos - mainly because the value is in the attraction, and the photos are grey and out of focus. Nothing looks good in those conditions. At the price level, I would expect a complete, correct watch - which this possibly is, although as pointed out the chrono hand is non matching, but thats no big deal. We are of course looking at a minor restoration, not a buy it and wear situation. I am assuming you have satisfied yourself it is a step dial. Lastly, which reference is it? -69 or -71? I am assuning it is a -71 on that serial but as you have not shown it I do not know. I would also want to check the movement at this price level - Are the screws chewed? Are the bridges matching? Does it look clean? Its really hard to tell you anything as crucial information is missing. However I suspect it will be an ok/good buy if you are ready to send it straight off to Simon Freese or a watchmaker with similar abilities and ethos.
Thank you for the advice, I know the pictures are terrible, but I had to take them with my iphone in a hurry. I checked the caseback and it is a -71. I am no movement expert, but it looked pristine when we opened it, there was one service mark on the caseback. Thanks again.
Good photos. The only additional issue I noticed with the better photos is some missing lume in the minute hand. Maybe this is not a big deal, and this could be an illusion from the photos, but I think that there has been some paint loss to the center of the running second hand between the time that the first photos were taken and the current photos. Or something is going on.
