Hi OF,

Seeking your opinions on the below 145.022 69 ST. The watch is in working condition but needs service.

Speedmaster Pro - Circa 1970
Reference No.: 145.022 69 ST
Serial No.: 32217272
Movement: Omega 861

The case overall is fair, my only concern is the lume plots and hands are in poor condition.
The movement looks fair but I'm concerned about a couple of the screws not being correct.

What price would you offer for this piece?
M

Looks legit to me, straight writing case-back, but not Apollo 11. The watch is honest, but very worn and heavily used. Every bit of it is beat to hell. I don't like it enough to buy it TBH, but I guess you like it since you're asking how much to offer. If you plan to fix it up and keep it, don't pay more than $4k, and I would offer less than that. If the seller is insulted, who cares, it won't be easy for him to sell. If you have the idea of flipping it ... don't. If the asking price is high, just walk.

I was thinking USD1,000 - 1,500 all things considered a nice piece of history.

It would be a no brainer at that price, but I doubt it unless the seller is a philanthropist. The bracelet and bezel are worth $1500 IMO. It's a complete, honest, original, working vintage Speedmaster with a step dial. Someone out there would be happy to have it relumed and serviced and wear it.

Edit: I forgot about the box. 🤦

Clearly, the most attractive thing in this watch is the box. But give it a try and let us know!

It's normal for the SELLER to state a price and then the potential BUYER can negotiate. Has the seller given you a price that he is looking for? Or is the seller someone who has no idea of what he/she has and its value? What's the backstory?

Motivated seller... with access to google! They'll have a general idea of what market value.

Steel straight writing 145.022-69 come in two flavors. The Apollo 11 version is rarer and is believed to have only sold in Japan.

Be careful and do your homework. I picked up this SW example a few years ago. Nice watch but incorrect bezel. 😁

End links $500... hmmm

If you offered $1000-$1500 to this watch, I'll take that entire box for $50, best I can do 😁

Bezel is decent. Ends are worth more than 500. Box is pretty cool too. I've never had that box but have always wanted one. Also, I like the straight writing backs. Movement looks a little worse than I would care for but if all works, some of the not so nice looking parts can be replaced or repolished/rebrushed. Not the greatest example but a worthy Speedy to get at a fair price.

Watch is quite rare but not all that nice to look at. While the 516 end links certainly have value, the bracelet itself looks like a 1980s-90s push pin 1171/1 so is rather later than the head, as such is worth IMO only a few hundred bucks/quid, it is not much of a plus. The box though is a nice addition and adds $1k-1,500. Personally I'd be at maybe ~$5K for this inc the box. The box is nicer than the watch, a better set of hands might pump the value a grand or two so it might make for a good fixer upper.

I’d agree that $5k would be a reasonable price for the lot based on the value of the component parts. According to Speedmaster101 head only should achieve circa $3.3k (fair condition) and the crater box, the 516 end links and bracelet would bring the value up to or over $5k.
