Hi All, Slowly thinning out...not my hair... but my collection. Problem is, every time I sell I seem to justify the purchase of another 馃え

Anyway, just canvassing what you think is realistic value for my gold (capped, rolled) Tri-Compax might be. All working fine of course, no gold wear through but a some patina around the tachy

An obvious redial sold on the Bay for around 2800 USD in April. I鈥檓 guessing for a nice piece like your watch 3500-4000 USD, possibly more. Looks like this is mid late 40s? Service moon. Not sure this is the best time to be trying to sell though.

Dear OP that is a lovely watch and good luck with the sale. Please forgive my quick detour on your thread.

I can鈥檛 help but agree with Larry here;

Not sure this is the best time to be trying to sell though.

The top-end auction houses continue to set records in Patek and Rolex this year but it seems like everyone else is finding it hard to move nice pieces along at the moment. There is a lot of fear in the air, perhaps for good reason. I see spectacular affordable pieces sit on the shelf here at OF (and elsewhere) for much longer than they used to.

I would guess 3-4K, hopefully on the upper side, depending on how patient you can be

is the hour chrono hand reset sticky?

Good catch. My recco is to have it serviced and sit out this bear market unless you really need the cash. Despite the fact that this is a GC watch, its in superb shape and will do well in the right market.

No not sticky, resets to zero every time but wanders off to position in photo after wearing for a period of time...

Thank you to all for your feedback. To add to the argument of a bear market, I recently caught up with the owner of one of the most prominent dealerships of vintage watches in Melbourne and he mentioned the same...good sales of fairly new watches but the vintage market is stagnant (including sought after models of vintage Rolexes).
I think I may take your advice and hang on and enjoy it for a little longer.

Interesting back story, I bought this watch around 10yrs ago from a pawn shop (via Ebay), not working, on a grotty Spidel band and with a heavily scratched crystal. Photos were quite good so could see condition of case and dial were quite good and vendor had a photo of movement which was very clean and appeared intact without any signs of abuse on screws etc. I thought definitely worth a shot. When I received it, I opened it up and found a spring lever installed back to front, 30 secs later a fully functioning watch. As it was on the top of the movement, I'm guessing it must have come loose and an amateur screwed it back on in the position that I found it in.
