Hello gents,

New to the forum here.

I’m set on getting an 18k yellow gold seamaster de ville (SMDV). Already checked the valuable thread by PlainVanilla (https://omegaforums.net/threads/the-ultimate-seamaster-de-ville-thread.159035/) and I concluded that I want either the 165.020 or 166.020. Actually I’m more inclined to the 166.020 since I’m fond of the date function, but a good conditon 165.020 is also desirable.

Hence, I want to ask your expert opinion on this eBay listing. Any feedback you could give will be much appreciated.

Since this will be my first vintage watch purchase one of my main concerns is what can be considered fair value for these specific references. Also if you could recommend other sources than eBay will be helpful too.

I hope I don’t pass as an annoying newbie.

Price is high, but 18K De Ville’s are not common, the case has some marks and polishing but the case-back medallion isn’t bad, if it’s really an 18k De Ville you want rather than a Constellation, it’s not bad really but you’re paying more than it would go for at auction, though still far less than a bricks and mortar store.

Thanks for the quick answer.

I guess then other options I’m seeing ~ usd 2000-3000 are a no-no

You know real estate - location, location, location? Well vintage watch prices are condition, condition, condition! So 2/3k …it depends.😉
