Came across this auction…

https://fieldingsauctioneers.co.uk/lot/239487

Having had a look at the pictures there are some oddities, namely the fixed bars and serial on the movement plus some others.

Not sure if this is someone trying to pass this off as a military SM or a genuine piece that was decommissioned and then restored.

Any thoughts from others?

Looks absolutely legit to me. Seems like the fixed bars have been re-welded, but that's all. What's wrong with that serial number in your opinion?

Isn't this expert estimate completely out of whack? Or do military editions go for these prices?

No. Yes.
Wow. I stand corrected! Does that go for military editions in general? i.e. the SeaMaster 120 also can be found now and then in a military edition

Original 1967 trapezoid dial, initially not
marked with the circled T. Quite common for a W10.

However, no info whether it has been sold on the auctioneers webside.

The first digit of the serial number on the movement looks like it’s been stamped over.

Hmm... i can't see that. But let's assume that would be the case. What number could it have been before? A 1? No, because 14719502 would lead to a 1954 movement, way before the caliber 552 was ever made. A 3? No again, cause 34719502 would lead to a 1972-73 movement, 2-3 years after the 552 production stopped. And finally, how big are the chances to find a movement with a serial number that fits to a MoD delivery except of the first digit? 😉

The auction website shows now sold for 18,000 GBP hammer price. Seems like an offer below the reserve was accepted by the seller afterwards.
