I don't know about durability but the fact that Rolex promises precision better than COSC and delivers on it is pretty amazing.
Nothing too shabby about Omega’s co-axial METAS certified calibers that are antimagnetic to 15,000 gauss either.

Would it depend on which secondary test you value most? Both are COSC certified, but then I believe Omega then sends to METAS for further testing, where as Rolex does further in-house testing and certifies it as to Rolex standards ( "beyond COSC")?

Funny that 90+% of people are one watch people…the other 10% are weird nutters that end up on forums like here….

I like to think of the 10% as unique individuals with extraordinary intelligence, gifted insight and exquisite taste. 😁

The METAS office is a door in the Omega building….and Rolex in house testing that’s better than COSC is the door next to the staircase that leads to the underground mine that they get their magic 904 steel from (same steel they make beer and wine vats out of) (( as a knife maker there is nothing special about Rolex steel ))

Marketing is wonderful 😉

Sure. Next thing you’re going to tell us is that the two brands don’t employ elves and that the watches aren’t made one at a time by hand. Boy, some people …

Perhaps controversial opinion but I don't see Rolex as being superior to Omega in durability and reliability
A couple of reasons I give the nod to the Seamaster Pro over the sub.

The domed crystal and flush fitting ceramic bezel / outer steel bezel deflect hits better than the submariner which has a flat crystal with an edge that sits proud of the bezel and a sharp coin edge bezel that attracts dents.

The finishing on the Omega dials is amazing, the Sub dials are a bit mediocre, the old hulk starburst was nice but they got rid of it which is unfortunate.

The omega bracelet and case is more resistant to looking rough and ratty.

The attention to detail with things like the contrasting hand lume color, displayback etc is quite nice at the price point.

The price puts it over the top, but more importantly you can buy the Omega and it isn’t a stupid, customer hostile buying experience.

All true. The attention to detail that Omega gave to the 2012-2017 version of the SMPc is simply as good as it gets. A gem of a watch and a real bargain at its price point.

Can’t do it. Too many goodies. But this one comes close

Yes amazing watch. Despite durability, few of them with over 100m water resistance though surprisingly. I actually like the music DJ one which does have 100m

Amazing watch, but if money is not an option isn't Rolex superior in terms of durability ?

Rolex is superior in terms of broability

only if you post it on social media, otherwise the broability rating drops to zero ATM

I think in terms of functionality, history, quality, and current price, if I had to pick just one watch - it'd be a modern Explorer 2 in black.
Funny because it is not a watch I would ever go out and buy. In fact, I really want my next buy to be a Polar E2.

One watch collection will never work.

I gotta have watches with straps outfitted to go with the belt and shoes and don't like to do strap change-outs.

I think the Explorer is often and appropriately described as a do-it-all watch. It's dressy, it's sporty, it's rather subtle (especially off the bracelet) – which ultimately makes it kind of a boring watch. I still love mine though.

I love when a leather watch strap happens to match the belt and shoes!
