One-Owner 145.012 with Personalised engraving added value or not??

I think of cool when an engraving tells a story. This date is interesting, but it's not a "story". I have a bit of an old book collection and sometimes I'll pick something up soley because of a touching old inscription inside.

If the engraving proved provenance to a famous person or that the watch was worn in a famous event, then it adds value.

Let me try to clear up your confusion:

I'm interested in opinions on the value of the inscriptions and obviously didn't make it quite clear that I don't mean only monetary value. I don't mind at all that opinions differ but do find there are nice ways to say something and rude ways. Some posts were in the latter category.

Of course that's the risk we take posting in a forum on the internet where you can't see the other person (who might be teenager trying to be funny for all one knows). If you had a face to face talk with someone it would obviously be different and one could judge better where someone is coming from. I still appreciate the opinions so far though which seem to indicate that most don't think the monetary value increases in this case. I'd also be interested in opinions on non-monetary value.

My assessment is that you are bit sensitive.

Stop that! The OP has made it clear that we should only post rainbows and unicorns in his threads, and that's the end of it!

...you are a bit sensitive...

Why thank you for your free personal assessment of me as a person! My little change to your post is also without monetary value.

I'm afraid it's the unfriendly 1/3 awake on the forums at this time...... Keep it coming anyway!
Don’t mind the squirell, he just likes to crack nuts!!

For my opinion .... not on this case to me but yes, some engravings can add a sentimental or historic value.

Military engravings often add value. Significant dates or names or text add value if you can prove they where somehow related to the watch. I.E. an astronaut engraving the watch after wearing it on the moon.... or before.... or during ( that would be something). A Daytona being worn at Daytona or awarded at Daytona..... a submariner with Jacques Cousteau’s initials.... some military guys unit...

There are collectors that actually look for engraved watches because they like the story behind their watches.... other hate them.

You do you!!

If you continue posting like this I might be tempted to post a diagnosis after all......

I actually agree with your assessment regarding monetary value in this case. For me it definitely adds emotional value though. Thanks for posting!

I agree with this! Finally we can agree on something. Then of course this was a normal post without trying to be funny. 😉

post a good picture of the caseback engraving

It's still not perfectly in focus, sorry. I've put it on a strap for the time being. While I like having the original bracelet and will always keep it with the watch, the 1039 has never instilled me with confidence. I think the 1116 and 1171 are much stronger.

By the way, I assumed the date was 10 June 1969. Could it be 6 October 1968? I don't know how the date is abbreviated in different countries.

I heard the OP's watch was originally owned by Rachel Dolezal. That was after she traded it for her Alaska Project Speedy.
