Got a couple of different size boxes from www.hillwood.co.uk
Have taken to hiding the good stuff elsewhere hence this one looking a bit baron.
I do think the veneers on the boxes are pretty though.

There is a opening on the rear, I have no idea what is it. Does anyone know?

Not sure if people already responsed to you. I have the same box and as far as I know, it's for passing cables if you have a smart watch.

I really like the boxes by JPM (for Hodinkee, Bulang & Sons and others). The idea of having a second section where watches are lying flat is perfect for watches on straps IMO.

But.. in some watch rolls' thread I heard an opinion that it is not good to store watches upside down – oils from the movement can get to the dial, etc. When the box is closed, watches are lying upside down.

Could this be true? Maybe @Archer could share the knowledge. It will be help not only for me...
A lot of people use those boxes and watch rolls.

These weren't intended for long term storage, but are more of a travel case or local storage for use. I have a few of the Bulang cases and love them, very nicely done. As long as you are occasionally wearing the watches I wouldn't worry

Does anybody know and can suggest the box intended for a long therm storage with such flat storage compartments? Juts as a regular watch box but deeper and without cushions? If it is even exists (why not?)

Those Watch rolls are excellent for storing your Watches. If there is so much oil in your Watch it seeps on the dial i am asuming something went wrong at the service departement. And besides if you don’t fondel the precious from time to time you are a bad, bad collector.
As somebody already posted, they are easier to shove in the safe or between your undies. I also made the rooky mistake... a see throughout lid box for 6/8 watches, then the 12. Then the nice 24 Watch box/ aka sigar box (closed lid). But in the end i do not recommand having expensive watches on display or in a big box easy to be caried away.
I would suggest to pick your 4 Watches that are “it” for you at the moment, put the rest in the (bank) safe.
Like stock, spread your risk.
Boxes and papers? That is why i like vintage... small boxes and small papers.

Just be aware that pelican cases, and other sealed cases, seal the environment IN as much as it seals it OUT. Moisture inside will stay there, doing its work relentlessly, to your detriment. Its why you never store firearms in cases either.

Personally would never ever store watches in a sealed case for this reason. And to those who would say 'but my watch is waterproof, its doesn't matter'....water vapor and liquid water are too very different things.

I finally pulled my finger out and sorted something a little more ' grown up', having previously had them all piled in a X4 box.
This is made from a reclaimed wood source ( like most things in the house), has a relatively small footprint and includes a drawer for other nonsense.

Where'd you get this Pelican case if you don't mind me asking?

But a waterproof watch is a sealed case !?

Water vapour is called - Air by the way

But every military force does it. 😲

One of these in a pelican case and you have no issues. Why do some of the most expensive computers, cameras and optics systems always get stored in Pelican cases- because they are the best place for them 👍

I recently picked up a travel size Peli to accompany its big brother, I ummed and ahhed over more expensive rolls but for £50 nothing else comes close in value for money.
Edit: £60 not £50, I have a habit of only remembering the price I tell my wife.

Nice!
What is the model number of your three watch case, I would like to purchase one.
Thank you.
