Im so glad I bought last year! I went to an AD back in August 2018 when the sapphire sandwich was £4160 and I negotiated an 18% discount taking it down to £3400! Then a few months later it had a price hike to £4400 and now £4700! So happy in the space of a year I saved £1300 on a brand new watch from an AD. The icing on the cake was the announcement shortly after that my warranty was extended to 5 years also!

Tax free I assume? Nice score. I paid £3100 from AD before the rise

Sort of, but not - I had decided to buy one and as I was going to Cyprus (in e.u. So no tax reduction) thought I would drop in to WoS and ask price. The guy said £3k as a ‘special’ (RRP £3.6 then) not tax free, no need to declare to customs so I ripped his arm off.
Interesting conversation with my wife followed as I was ‘just going for a look’ and she was elsewhere!

Fantastic, got back last night after 13 days of sunshine, souvlaki & zivania to grey and rainy UK! I have a house in Flassou so visit 6/7 times a year.

Bumping this thread to see if UK prices have risen again in May. In Canada we have just seen hikes of between 200-300.00 across the Speedmaster and Seamaster lines. Seamaster Pro Diver 300s on bracelet are up to 6750.00 (+250.00) and 6350.00 on the rubber strap (+250.00), while the Pro is now +300.00 and the FOIS takes the Pro's old spot at CAD 6200.00 (+250.00).

Surprised not surprised, I guess. Are these increases being seen in other markets also?

No increases in the US, at least on the Speedmaster line.

I’m glad I bought my Speedmaster pro hesalite last year. I had planned on buying a diver 300M this year but I’m out at these prices. just getting too expensive. Will hunt for a nice used PO 2500 instead which is my second option.

I feel similarly. Managed to snag a new Speedy before the latest bump but the SMP I bought in 2018 at retail has gone up by roughly 800.00 since then. it’s a great watch but at nearly 2k more than, say, a Tudor Pelagos, it’s hard to call it a strong value.

The 5000.00 price point seems like a significant Rubicon for modern luxury watches. Watching the bread-and-butter Speedy Pro (6500.00) and SMP Diver (6750.00) approach 7k in Canada, even before taxes that range from 5 to 13%, has been sobering.

I agree about the $5000 Canadian price point. I was fortunate to snag my speedy pro for $5300 tax in from an AD last spring. To try to negotiate a SMP diver to a similar spot today would be impossible.

The Pelagos is a great watch but not for me. Th BB58 at $4200 Canadian represents tremendous value with COSC certification and a 5 year warranty and truthfully fits my 15.5cm wrists better than the 300M. If Tudor comes out with another colourway that isn’t so gold toned I’ll consider it. Is it as good as the 300M? No, but it’s almost half the price and a solid offering.
