Omega two-tone purchase advice appreciated

Hi guys,

As many others (at least where I live) I have been confined to my flat for the past two months (and flat is saying much since I am a student and have one room and a shared kitchen). Anyway, in search of something to do with my time I started reading about old Omegas and have really fallen for the brand. Such iconic pieces. I have purchased an old Seamaster (and love it) and have now been offered another watch which I hope you could help give me some advice on.

It is a Bullseye (two tone) Omega. I have seen a similar watch listed as a 2640-8 SC (https://www.vintage-portfolio.com/s...-gold-plated-omega-bullseye-dial-handwinding/)

.. but as far as I can tell from the Omega database, the watch I have been offered should be a CK 2892 (as it is not a screw down back) with a cal. 28x movement. The seller has not had the back removed and cannot say much more than it was serviced in 2016 and is running fine, losing around 30 sec a day. It is a 14k gold plated case with a stainless steel snap off back. Crown is not original.

As you can see, the dial has some patina but oddly I actually find this particular patina quite beautiful - and the watch stunning overall. I am, however, not quite sure how much it affects the value of the watch as I am still new to the world of vintage watches.

He is asking around 310 euros. Would you say that is a fair price?

Thanks for your help

Case would be gold capped not plated.

If you like the dial I suppose the price isn't bad, providing the movement is in good condition, however loosing 30/sec a day is not running fine in my book, so I'd budget for a service.

The watch looks ok to me, and it may be a ref 2892, but not CK (which is stainless), so maybe CD 2892 since it seems to be gold-cap on stainless.

The dial is nice but 310 Euro and you're not sure what's inside?
Try to bring him down to 2-250 and roll the dice.

Thanks for your advice. I was under the impression that this particular blue-tone dial was quite hard to come by, but seing as the seller is quite stuck on 310 I think i’ll pass.

The dial is not blue-toned. What you see is the blue colour from the daylight reflecting in the dial. Here is a picture of my CK 2792-5 SC, and it should looked like this originally. If you fancy this dial, have patience and seek further. Pay a little extra and you will get one.

Thanks Maskelyne - UPDATE: I have now seen pictures of the inside which looks good, and the seller has dropped the price to 270 euros. It is indeed a 2792-5 SC. I think I'll jump on it. Any last thoughts?

For that money, I doubt you’d have problems passing it on, should you feel you don’t really like it after a while. Might take some time to find someone who likes this kind of patina on the dial, but if you enjoy it, why not?

I think that´s a fair price and it´s gold capped with a case that seems to be well preserved. Go for it.
