I bought this watch in '68 from a friends Dad who owned a Pawnshop. Since I was a "friend" and in the Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School, he gave me a deal.
I wore it during my entire military career.
My question is this. I know I don't want to have anything replaced. It needs cleaning and it won't start/stop the chronograph. I live in Central Illinois, USA and would like to know of a reputable place to have this work done.
Thanks for your help!
Greg

Looks good. Yes don’t send it to Omega. Find a US based watchmaker for a simple service.

I’d love to see what’s under that case back.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that asking the same group of people the same question will result in new suggestions for a watchmaker. I think I tried to give you some links to previous threads on the topic in your previous thread, and it looks like you have received a few suggestions from other members in your previous threads.

Understandably, people often prefer to make referrals personally, instead of publicly, and the best recommendations I have received have either been through in-person interactions with other collectors, or via private message with forum members with whom I had developed a friendly relationship. You could look for watch collector groups in your region using social media or the NAWWC website. Our local NAWWC chapter is still having monthly meetings, although they are online instead of in-person. I'm sure that those people will have good recommendations for you.

You can also search for watch repair using the AWCI website (https://awci.memberclicks.net/find-a-professional2), although that is obviously not the same as a personal referral, and only comprises a subset of watchmakers.

This has gotten weird.

Not everyone is as crazy as us ... watches, watches, watches all day long. It's probably just not his top priority to get it fixed, and every once in a while he thinks about it. However, he has gotten some suggestions in the past, so it would be nice to hear what progress he has made, if any.

If he's still asking for service in Illinois, I would guess he's done nothing.

Yeah, that's the thing. Why keep trying to help someone who doesn't take action.

You may have to head up to chicago. But there's a very large market of watch fanatics in Chicago, so I'm sure you'll have your options there. If you need an Omega AD referral, let me know.

Hi @GregS, thanks for your service.
Maybe your son could help you comb through those various suggestions and contact the various watchmakers and people who’ve been cited in those threads?

Gentlemen... hello... if this gentleman and his watch have served in Vietnam I can think of any number of reasons to be distracted.
Best regards

@Syrte, people are just joking around, the OP is a big boy and I'm sure he can take it. And I don't know what you're getting at with your posts, which actually seem condescending to me. Just because the OP served in Vietnam doesn't make him senile, if that's what you are suggesting. I almost always agree with you, but not this time.
