Omega Speedmaster Service

So after 17 years of owning my Speedmaster professional, I thought it prudent to have it serviced.

After three months with an official Omega service centre, it arrived back running about + 20.

My timegrapher also showed a 1.0ms beat error

Way off being good enough

The amplitude though was much better than it was pre service, at 300 degrees so no problem there

I knew full well that if I sent it back, it would be gone again for weeks on end so decided to wade in and do it myself

I'm experienced at regulating watches, and within a few minutes got it running with three second discrepancy and a 0.3 beat error.

Tempting as it was to try and get that beat error to zero, I didn't want to push my luck.

It's been running consistently for a week since and my on wrist experience is now a consistent +5 seconds per 24 hours with virtually no positional variation.

As an aside I specifically asked for the watch not to be polished, but they did it anyway which is annoying, although to be fair, they did a fantastic job of it.

I'm surprised that the final step of the process was overlooked, and all in all I'm not impressed.

Just thought I'd share

That's nearly a horror story, a polish when you said not to? Must be some sort of big Swiss holiday in July that had them all wasted.
