Omega Speedmaster or Rolex Daytona.

I own a fully manual e46 m3 for a reason. But if I tracked it I’d have the SMG.

You will pry that car from my cold dead hands or when I find an affordable air cooled 911.
Now there is something we agree on!

I loved mine dearly...

Not without fault, but an animal of an engine!

One of the best BMW M cars ever produced!!

I have found the Daytona to be not only visually unappealing, but frankly, very difficult to read. To me, the Daytona is dated, while the Speedmaster is timeless. I realize these are just my own opinions, so YMMV.

This. Money and availability aside, the Speedmaster is a timeless classic and extremely practical. The Daytona is ugly and illegible. And it got uglier over time. And I don’t have a problem with Rolex and like and own both the big brands. But the Speedmaster would always be my choice for the you-can-only-have-one-watch situation.

Also, to add to the conversation a bit, one of the things the Daytona is probably most visually known for is the ringed subdials. If that's a consideration, the Apollo 15 35th anniversary is an absolute stunner:

Zenith heard you…
You are welcome.
I’ll race you to the boutique. Warming up my Tesla now.

I wouldn't ever wear this, but in terms of how the sapphires are arranged, I think it's actually quite attractively done compared to many of the precious-stone bezel watches I've seen.

The Tokyo 2020 is similar but adds the red of the Lemans Daytona:

Right- the Tokyo 2020 is gold vs. the A15 35th's rose gold definitely makes these two visually quite different despite being so similar. I haven't seen either in person, but the rings on the subdials also appear to be tighter on the T2020.

It's incredible how much difference these slight variations can make- I see one of these watches as warm, vintage, soft, comfortable- and the other as sharp, modern, and bright.

Oh man, I’d rock the shit out of it. Asking price is absurd. Zenith doesn’t have the market to ask $110k for this. The gemset game is owned by Rolex and Patek.

I love gemstones- don't get me wrong. In this case I'd be concerned I'd bang the bezel against something and lose a sapphire!

...a masterbatory exercise in every way.
That would explain why so many of these threads are started.

From an esthetic standpoint, with those big crown guards around the pushers, the modern Daytonas just look too busy on that right side. I prefer the look of the early Daytonas, but of course, they are smaller case size than the modern ones. I've had a 6263 on my wrist before and it doesn't wear as small as you would expect (37mm case size) due to the bezel extending beyond the case a little and it is very comfortable. The Speedmaster has an almost a perfect case size and a classic look that is timeless. The newer Daytonas just look too flashy to me. But if that's what you're going for, have at it.
