Hello members,

I wondered if experienced member might like to comment on this Ref. 145.01267

I wanted to check that it was correct.

Perhaps more info on yourself, why you’re looking for a Speedmaster, what details you have about the watch, whether it’s dealer or private sale etc.

the tritium of the dial seems removed in places, the bezel is too recent (sell it to @Ep-irl), it seems to me that this second hand appeared later.

Need more photos to confirm this.

Looks legit at first glance based on one dark photo. As noted, the bezel is not original.

There is no way to tell if it's correct from one photo. You'll need a picture of the back, the pushers, the crown and the movement. Plus the serial number from the movement. Then pictures of the strap and the number stamped on the clasp. Not forgetting the numbers stamped on the end links.

Vintage Speedmasters are all about the detail

If the bezel is for a 69 and original then yes that would look lovely on mine. DM me if you decide to buy and swap

I want to purchase a Speedmaster for one of my employees who is also my closest friend. I bought one for him about 5 years ago but the watch repairer he gave it to said he lost it.

This watch is not particularly expensive (5k) but I would like to get him a nice example and cost is secondary to that. Unfortunately, I know little about them as I'm more a Rolex guy.

I don't like Speedmasters but my friend is mad for them.

I don't think the vender is a dealer, but what do I know.

5k what. This is an international forum.

As you probably know, the photos are terrible so I can't read the serial number or see numbers on the endlinks, but I'm still not seeing any obvious major issues beyond the bezel. The crown is probably a replacement. Of course, there are obvious cosmetic condition issues on the dial, hands, and bracelet, but you can see them as well as we can.

5k US

Im thinking I might hold out for a better example.

Id rather pay 10k and get a really good one.

My sense is that the price is pretty good for what it is, even with the flaws, especially including the value of the bracelet. Another $2k (net) and it could be all correct. But it's not a top example, and probably not the watch I would buy as a gift for my closest friend.

I concur.

These pictures are horrendous, which always makes me highly suspicious. I'm a terrible photographer, but in this age of amazing cell phone cameras, there is no excuse for these low quality pictures. From what I can see, meh, yeah, its a '67 Speedy, but its been molested, and more so its just unattractive and its not going to get more attractive over time or with TLC. The dial plots are missing lume or blotchy/discolored and that is just an immediate turn off for me, especially on '67's which can have a beautiful creamy patina. Bezel/crown replaced somewhere, bracelet appears pretty stretched out from the terrible pictures, so that devalues it. I'd ask for better pictures, or just pass. The watch market is all of a sudden very soft, its a buyers market, so act accordingly. I think there may be better examples to be had if you choose to be patient. Good Luck !

Yes, I agree, and I will be taking your observant advice.

Thanks.
