as a vintage speedmaster nut even i was shocked at the ( what i deem crazy) price being asked for this " collectors grade" ebay listing.

is it the heat wave in UK that has cooked sellers brain or am i a little bit out of touch when it comes to bracelet prices?

I think the condition, while very good, I think it might be prepared or polished, or serviced.

Collectors Grade is a nebulous term.

Show me a NOS bracelet and thats a different story

Short and simple; it’s waaaaaay overpriced. But as a seller, you can always try….

Thanks i agree. Think i will ask the question as to provenance and see what seller will really accept for bracelet.

Well I dont blame the seller for asking. They are hard to find at the moment. If you need it, then I suspect in 12 months you might think its cheap

As I said. From experience crazy today, might not seem so in future. I remember paying $2000 for a mint DO90 and refusing one for $2500. I would love to buy that today!

I'm not saying this is a bargain - but before dismissing, see what else is available. I have seen some for $900 that seem cheap, but no endlinks and stretched links....

It all depends on how much you need it. I am curious what people think it would fetch on a no reserve auction on ebay. My guess is $1800-2200. Am I too high? (its been known)

A 1039 with 516 links came on my vintage 69 ST and it, like the watch, appeared to be original and unpolished. It had all the links and the spring links were tight. I considered listing it at $1500 and I thought that was lot.

I think it’s overpriced. I sold a very similar, mint, full length 1039 + 516 with zero stretch, minimal wear etc for £1250 I think.
£2500 is ridiculous

Looks overpriced today, but who knows what the future holds. Whether it is terms like 'collector's grade' or 'the need for' an item, there is always room for interpretation, and consensus is rarely reached. That being said, another school of thought exists within the collectibles market: 'as long as you have a rare item and time on your side, you only ever need to find that one right buyer.'

Who on earth buys a vintage watch (or bracelet) based on possible future value?
For every argument to say it will be worth more in the future, there is a counter to say it will worth less.

Todays value is all that’s relevant.

The bracelets are soon worth more than the watch I'm looking for. A 1502. Prices are crazy.
